More than 6,000 houses for poor households in the Central Highlands

TPO - In just about 5 months, the Ministry of Public Security has supported the construction, repair and renovation of 6,370 houses for poor and near-poor households in Gia Lai, Lam Dong and Quang Ngai provinces, with a total cost of up to 355 billion VND.

On the afternoon of July 30, in Pleiku ward (Gia Lai), the Ministry of Public Security organized a program to summarize the movement "Eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" in the Central Highlands provinces by 2025.

Since the beginning of 2025, the Ministry of Public Security has supported the construction, repair and renovation of 6,370 houses for poor and near-poor households in Gia Lai, Lam Dong (formerly Dak Nong) and Quang Ngai provinces (formerly Kon Tum province), with a total cost of up to 355 billion VND. The program not only helps thousands of families have stable housing, but also lays a solid foundation for them to settle down and develop their livelihoods, contributing to the long-term stability of the Central Highlands region.

Not stopping at financial support, officers and soldiers of Gia Lai Provincial Police also directly contributed 2 days' salary, equivalent to more than 5.4 billion VND to the program. In parallel, there was the effective mobilization of socialized resources, attracting more than 2.7 billion VND and thousands of tons of construction materials; more than 2,000 working days of the police force were also mobilized to directly join hands in building houses and roofing with the people. The spacious houses springing up in the middle of remote villages are not only a safe place for people to return to, but also a vivid symbol of the spirit of "close to the people, for the people" of the people's police force.

Speaking at the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Pham The Tung - Deputy Minister of Public Security praised the sense of responsibility, efforts, creativity and practical results that agencies and units have achieved in implementing the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. The Senior Lieutenant General expressed his deep gratitude to businesses and individuals who have accompanied the program and hoped that businesses will continue to join hands with localities to develop the socio-economy, contributing to ensuring social security in the Central Highlands provinces in particular and the whole country in general.

Senior Lieutenant General Pham The Tung shared that recently, the Ministry of Public Security has mobilized resources and coordinated with localities to complete the construction, renovation, and repair of tens of thousands of houses, along with many boarding schools and hospitals nationwide with a total cost of nearly 2,000 billion.

In 2025, responding to the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide", the Ministry of Public Security mobilized all forces to donate 362 billion VND and mobilized 373 billion VND of socialized resources to support the elimination of over 10,000 temporary and dilapidated houses in many localities, with special attention to supporting the elimination of thousands of temporary and dilapidated houses for the people of the Central Highlands with a budget of 345 billion VND.

According to the Senior Lieutenant General, in the Central Highlands, with high political determination, great efforts, a sense of urgency and the joint efforts of the People's Public Security Forces, the People's Army, the local political system and sponsors, the core of which is the Public Security, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Gia Lai, Lam Dong, Kon Tum (now Quang Ngai) provinces and all the people, thousands of houses have been completed and put into use before the rainy season. This is a very practical and meaningful result on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the People's Public Security Traditional Day, the 20th Anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection, the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.

Senior Lieutenant General Pham The Tung shared that with new, stable and solid housing, households will feel secure in working and producing, continuing to promote the spirit of national solidarity and revolutionary traditions of the locality and the heroic Central Highlands, actively participating in ensuring security and order at the grassroots level and building a solid people's security posture, contributing to the successful implementation of the strategic policies of the Party and State.

Also at the program, Senior Lieutenant General Pham The Tung requested central and local agencies, departments and branches and called on sponsors and philanthropists to stand side by side with the People's Public Security force in the spirit of following, stepping quickly, and accompanying for the prosperity and happiness of the people, contributing to the effective implementation of the Party and State's social security policies and guidelines, strongly responding to the movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor - No one is left behind", bringing the country firmly into a new era, an era of national growth.

In recognition of the outstanding contributions in the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses", the Minister of Public Security signed a decision to award certificates of merit to 3 collectives and 12 individuals from Gia Lai province; 2 collectives and 6 individuals from Lam Dong province; 3 collectives and 8 individuals from Quang Ngai province were honored.
