Musician Hoai An with the album Vietnamese Soul imbued with Vietnamese cultural identity
After more than two decades of nurturing and composing, musician Hoai An officially released the album "Hon Viet" - a musical work consisting of 15 songs imbued with the national spirit, history and culture of Vietnam. The album with songs from "Truyen thuy Co Loa" to "Hoang de ao vai" is an impressive musical journey.
The first song in the "Vietnamese Soul" genre - "The Legend of Co Loa" - was written by Hoai An in 2000-2001. Since then, Hoai An has continued to extend the flow of epic - legend - fairy tale music with compositions such as Truong Chi - My Nnuong, Me Linh Drum, Lau Flag... to the latest songs Ly Trieu Danh Tuong, Duc Thanh Tran (2022), Hoang De Ao Vai (2023). "I consider this a musical work of my life" - Hoai An shared.
"When I held the disc in my hand, the first thing I wanted to do was go home and show it to my parents - who have always supported and inspired me on this journey" - Hoai An said.
The album "Vietnamese Soul" is music that tells national stories.
The album "Hon Viet" is a music that tells national stories. "Hon Viet" is a collection of songs divided into 3 thematic groups: National heroes (with songs such as Me Linh drum, Reed flag, Saint Tran, Ly Dynasty famous general, Cloth-cloth emperor), Legends - history (including Co Loa citadel story, Dong A spirit, Thang Long spirit, Bach Dang Giang...) and Fairy tales (including Son Tinh - Thuy Tinh, Thach Sanh, Truong Chi - My Nuong, Banh Chung - Banh Giay).
"I want to awaken love for Vietnamese history and national pride through melodies and lyrics. From the Dong A spirit to folk love stories, from heroic drum beats to the legend of Tet cakes - all carry within them the "Vietnamese Soul" with rich identity" - Hoai An expressed.
In the future, Hoai An hopes that the songs "Vietnamese Soul" will spread widely in school environments, festival programs, community performances, and even cartoons or educational games if conditions allow.
Hoai An said his father was the one who inspired him about Vietnamese history, national heroes, cultural celebrities...
Talking about pursuing the creative flow of Epics - Legends - Fairy Tales, musician Hoai An said: "My father inspired me about Vietnamese history, about national heroes, cultural celebrities... so I have a special affection for Vietnamese history and culture. Personally, I was also inspired by the songs I heard since I was little, such as Hon vong phu (Le Thuong), Trau cau (Phan Huynh Dieu)...
In fact, I wrote "Hon Viet" over many periods of time, sometimes for several years in a row without writing any articles, and sometimes there were new articles every week. I felt a "fate" with "Hon Viet", like this is something I love, want to do, and will be able to do.
Up to now, I have about 800 songs, most of which have been released, so when I write, I determine that there must be a "new" element in the music or lyrics, if both are possible, that's great. I usually prioritize beautiful, smooth melodies... I only use impressive transitions in a few songs."
