How did Israel retaliate against Iran?

Information about the attack was later confirmed by Iran's Fars news agency with information about 3 explosions recorded in Isfahan, central Iran. This was the result of Iran's air defense intercepting unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that violated airspace.

“Three explosions were heard near a military base northeast of Isfahan. Air defenses intercepted what was believed to be a small drone,” Fars news agency reported.

The UAV's target was likely a military radar station. The interception caused windows to be broken in several buildings in the area.

Immediately after the incident, Iranian authorities canceled flights over Tehran, Isfahan and Shiraz. According to Tasnim news agency, the situation in Isfahan remained calm as the air defense system was put on combat readiness and civilian activities continued as normal.

Israel's 'very controlled' attack on Iran

Fox News, citing US military sources, reported that Israel's attack on Iranian territory was very limited. It is clear that the target of the attack was not Iran's nuclear facilities.

Meanwhile, Reuters news agency quoted Iranian officials as saying that Israel did not use missiles in the attack and the sound of the explosion was heard due to Iran's air defense activities.

The New York Times quoted Iranian sources confirming that Iran's Shekari Air Base No. 8 was the target of the attacks.

Israel informed the US in advance of its plan to retaliate against Iran

Bloomberg news agency, citing a source from US officials, reported that Israel had informed the US in advance about its plan to retaliate against Iran. According to CNN, the US government did not support such an attack.

“We did not support retaliation ,” the White House source said.

According to CNN, the US did not participate in Israel's attack on Iranian territory. The White House and the US National Security Council refused to comment on the situation in the Middle East after the attack.

Earlier, the Director of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), William Burns, said that Israel is carefully considering the possibility of responding to an attack from Iran. Meanwhile, Washington is looking for ways to reduce tensions in the region.

Israel refuses to comment on the retaliatory attack

NBC News reported that the Israeli military had no comment on the attack. The results of the attack are currently being assessed.

“Israel is currently assessing the effectiveness of the attack and the damage caused. There are no recommendations for Israeli civilians at this time,” a representative of the Israel Defense Forces said.

Billionaire Elon Musk “mocks” Israel's attack

American billionaire Elon Musk in a post on social network X recalled that the F-14 Tomcat fighter jets delivered to Iran in the 1970s were stationed at Shekari Air Base No. 8.

“Somehow American money is being used to attack the same things we gave to Iran,” Elon Musk commented.

On April 1, Israel attacked a building next to the Iranian Embassy in the Syrian capital Damascus. The Syrian Defense Ministry later clarified that the Iranian consulate was destroyed in the attack.

On the night of April 13 and 14, Iran fired 185 drones, 36 cruise missiles and 110 ballistic missiles at Israel. Tehran said this was a response to an Israeli attack on diplomatic facilities in Syria.

The commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) units responsible for ensuring the security of nuclear facilities, Ahmed Haktalab, said that due to threats from Israel, Iran may reconsider its nuclear policy.

Ahmed Haktalab also noted readiness to counter any attack attempt: “ If Israel decides to strike first, Tehran “will launch an operation that will go down in history as ‘Sincere Promise’.”
