The goal after the project is completed is to overcome the shortage of domestic water and serve the needs of socio -economic development. On the other hand, it will improve health, environmental sanitation, and build advanced new rural areas in the period of 2021 - 2025 in Me Pu, Sung Nhon, Da Kai communes, Duc Linh district.
Main sources of domestic water are rivers, streams and wells.
Along with some other areas in the province, the problem of lack of domestic water, especially in the dry season, is still a concern for people, not yet completely resolved in Binh Thuan , and Duc Linh is one of the districts facing these difficulties. Notably, in Me Pu commune (Duc Linh), there is currently a water supply pipeline from Vo Xu Water Plant, the total number of customers installing water meters in Me Pu commune to date is 981 households. Notably, the rate of households using tap water here is only 30.67%, the rest of the local people use domestic water from rivers, streams, wells... In addition, a part is treated through conventional small-scale settling and filtering systems in households for daily use.
According to the report of the Provincial People's Committee, currently in Sung Nhon and Da Kai communes, the project of booster pumping station and water supply pipeline for Sung Nhon and Da Kai communes is being implemented, expected to be completed in August 2024 to supply clean water to the people of Sung Nhon and Da Kai communes. However, the project of booster pumping station and water supply pipeline for Sung Nhon and Da Kai communes only focuses on building the booster pumping station and has not yet expanded the entire clean water pipeline in the two communes of Sung Nhon and Da Kai. Therefore, the investment in the project of expanding the water supply pipeline for Me Pu, Sung Nhon and Da Kai communes to provide clean water to the people from the centralized water supply project to serve daily life and other needs. Thereby, contributing to improving living standards and health status, developing local socio-economy and ensuring that the 18.1 criteria of advanced new rural communes for the three communes of Me Pu, Sung Nhon and Da Kai according to the National Criteria for Advanced New Rural Communes is really necessary.
Meet the water needs of local people
Within the framework of the 24th session (regular session in mid-2024), the 11th term People's Council of Binh Thuan province unanimously passed a Resolution on approving the investment policy for the project to expand the water supply pipeline to Me Pu, Sung Nhon and Da Kai communes, Duc Linh district.
On the sidelines of the meeting, we discussed this content with Mr. Le Van Toan - Standing Deputy Secretary of Duc Linh District Party Committee - Chairman of the District People's Council, delegate of the Provincial People's Council.
According to Mr. Toan, this is a very correct policy because Duc Linh is currently focusing on building an advanced new countryside. However, clean water is one of the mandatory criteria, the rate of households using tap water must reach at least 50% according to regulations. Therefore, when the project is implemented and completed, it will be a good opportunity for people in the 3 communes to have access to clean water, serving the economic and social life of people in the area.
In particular, to complete the clean water criteria in the construction of advanced new rural areas, the leaders of Duc Linh district hope that the entire political system will participate, together with the people, to agree with the policy. When the project is completed, this will be a great joy for the people in this area, because Duc Linh is currently experiencing a long dry season, and water shortages still occur. This is also the meaning of the project, when completed, it will help the people of Duc Linh district, who have long had difficulty with domestic water sources during the dry season. Along with that, the project will be a "lever" for Duc Linh district to have a solid step forward on the journey of building advanced new rural areas.
According to the Resolution on approving the investment policy for the project to expand the water supply pipelines of Me Pu, Sung Nhon and Da Kai communes, Duc Linh district, the investment scale of the project is to install a system of HDPE water supply pipelines (D63 - D225) mm, with a total length of about 79.5 km. On the water supply pipelines, there are line shut-off valve boxes, sludge discharge valves, air discharge valves, fire hydrants, road-crossing pipes, milestones and some accompanying water supply accessories.
The total investment of the project is expected to be 37.1 billion VND. The investment capital comes from the lottery capital in the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021-2025 and transition to the period 2026-2030. The project belongs to group C. The implementation period is 3 years, according to the project investment form of expanding and constructing new works.
