At around 11:00 a.m. on August 8, people discovered smoke and fire rising in the area near An Phuoc Vien Cremation Center, Hoa Khanh Ward, so they quickly reported it to the authorities.
Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department of Da Nang City Police mobilized 4 vehicles and 28 officers and soldiers to urgently go to the scene.
Amid the scorching heat, the firefighting force divided into many teams, using high-powered nozzles to control the fire, preventing it from spreading to the production forest and neighboring properties.
The fire broke out in an area managed by the Da Nang People's Committee to the An Phuoc Vien Crematorium Center, outside the planning of 3 types of forests, mainly post-exploitation vegetation. Forest rangers, mobile forest fire prevention and fighting forces and Hoa Khanh ward officials coordinated to put out the fire.
After more than an hour of effort, by 12:30 the same day, the fire was completely extinguished. The estimated burned area was about 3,000 square meters .
In the working minutes, the representative of An Phuoc Vien Cremation Center said that the fire was suspected to have been set by people, and the forest owner affirmed that he did not set the fire on his own.
Previously, on August 7, the Da Nang Forest Protection Department issued a level IV forest fire warning, requesting localities to closely monitor fire prevention, strictly prohibit the use of fire to treat vegetation, and check high-risk areas.
