According to the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province, recently there have been a number of cases of students being poisoned by food eaten in front of the school gate, including cases of poisoning caused by businesses providing meals for schools, affecting the health and psychology of students, causing anxiety for parents, and causing public outrage.
In the new school year 2024 - 2025, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province requested the Department of Education and Training, People's Committees of districts, towns and cities, within the scope of their responsibility, to urgently and seriously implement the strengthening of food safety and hygiene in educational institutions with 6 requirements.
Authorities were present at the iSchool Nha Trang cafeteria at the time of the food poisoning incident that hospitalized more than 600 students.
Specifically, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province requires that they be responsible to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for ensuring food safety within their scope and field of responsibility; and raise awareness, roles and responsibilities of heads of educational institutions on food safety.
The authorities direct educational establishments to strengthen strict control over the origin of food and the process of processing, preserving and transporting food in educational establishments; comply with the procedures for receiving, inspecting and storing food samples according to regulations. Absolutely do not allow food production and supply establishments that do not fully comply with food safety regulations to supply food or meals to schools.
In addition, it is necessary to strengthen propaganda and education to raise awareness of education managers, teachers, school staff, students and parents about ensuring hygiene, food safety, and preventing food poisoning; prepare plans to promptly respond to and handle situations that arise when food poisoning occurs in schools; at the same time, ensure proper nutrition combined with increased physical activity appropriate to the age and physical condition of children and students and the conditions of their families to improve health, prevent and control epidemics and non-communicable diseases...
According to the Department of Education and Training of Khanh Hoa province, in the 2024-2025 school year, the whole province will have more than 290,000 students from 521 schools from kindergarten, high school and center.
Of which, there are 202 kindergartens (including 159 public schools, 43 non-public schools); 160 primary schools; 121 secondary schools; 34 high schools (including 29 public schools, 5 non-public schools) and 4 centers.
To prepare for the new school year, the provincial Department of Education and Training has invested in building and repairing facilities for schools with a total cost of nearly 675.4 billion VND; purchased nearly 62 billion VND in teaching equipment, and will continue to purchase and supplement in the coming time.
