Closing the 2025 National Gymnastics Age Group Championship: Ho Chi Minh City is the best team

VHO - After 2 days of exciting competition, the 2025 National Gymnastics Youth and Age Group Championships officially closed in Can Tho City. The tournament was organized by the Vietnam Gymnastics Federation (Vietnam Sports Department - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City.

Participating in this year's tournament are 128 athletes, coaches and delegation leaders from 5 strong units across the country including: Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Army and Can Tho City.

Athletes competed in many events: men in freestyle gymnastics, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bars; women in vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and freestyle gymnastics. The tournament included men's and women's team championships, men's and women's all-around championships, and men's and women's singles championships.

Specifically, the youth tournament has male athletes with age groups from 16-18 years old, female athletes from 13-15 years old; along with championships of smaller age groups (male: U7, U9, U11, U13, U15; female U6, U8, U10, U12).

The tournament is an annual activity in the high-performance sports competition system of the Department of Physical Training and Sports, aiming to promote the gymnastics movement across the country, and at the same time is an opportunity to select outstanding athletes to supplement the youth team and the national team.

Mr. Truong Cong Quoc Viet - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, Head of the tournament's Organizing Committee, said: "The athletes have shown determination, effort and dedication during the competition, thereby achieving encouraging results. This is also an opportunity to confirm the level of athletes in 2025."

In the final results, the Ho Chi Minh City delegation continued to affirm its leading position when it won 27 gold medals, 25 silver medals, and 23 bronze medals, ranking first overall. The Hanoi delegation ranked second with 23 gold medals, 14 silver medals, and 25 bronze medals. The host delegation, Can Tho City, ranked third with 14 gold medals, 14 silver medals, and 17 bronze medals.

Gymnastics is a total physical sport that requires a combination of strength, endurance, balance, flexibility, agility and body control. It is one of the oldest and most prominent sports in the Olympic Games.
