Groundbreaking Ceremony of Vietnam - China Smart Border Gate Project

The groundbreaking ceremony of the Huu Nghi Smart Border Gate Project (Vietnam) - Huu Nghi Quan (China) was held by the People's Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) on September 15.

Implementing the Framework Agreement on Promoting the Pilot Construction of Vietnam - China Smart Border Gates, Lang Son Province and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region have agreed to jointly promote the pilot construction of Smart Border Gates at the dedicated freight transport route of Huu Nghi - Huu Nghi Quan border gates.

The Huu Nghi - Huu Nghi Quan Smart Border Gate Project is implemented by the People's Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region based on satellite positioning and 5G technology. The project uses unmanned container transport vehicles (AGVs), automatic cranes, and intelligent map inspection systems, and can complete cross-border logistics information exchange between Vietnam and China, allowing unmanned automatic customs clearance 24 hours a day.

The project investment capital implemented by the Chinese side is about 1.062 billion yuan, the construction time is about 15 months from the commencement date, the project is expected to be completed and put into use by the end of December 2024.

When completed, the project will contribute to improving the efficiency of customs clearance of goods between the two border gates.

Currently, Lang Son province (Vietnam) has completed the Smart Border Gate Pilot Project and is seeking opinions from Vietnam's central ministries and branches before submitting it to the Prime Minister for consideration and approval.

In addition, Lang Son province is also seeking opinions from central ministries and branches to unify the expansion of lanes on the specialized freight transport route in the area of ​​landmarks 1119-1120 of the Huu Nghi international border gate (Vietnam) - Huu Nghi Quan (China) to serve the construction of the Smart Border Gate.

In the coming time, to continue to accelerate the research and construction progress of the Smart Border Gate according to the Agreement signed between the leaders of the two Provinces and Regions, the leaders of the People's Committee of Lang Son province said that the two sides need to strengthen close, effective and substantive cooperation, exchange and agree on specific contents on planning and construction plans for the Smart Border Gate infrastructure; on technology, information connection and sharing; on management, inspection and control models and other related contents.

At the ceremony, the leaders of the People's Committee of Lang Son province (Vietnam) and the People's Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) agreed that the two sides will continue to strengthen close and effective cooperation, regularly exchange information to quickly complete and successfully implement the Huu Nghi Smart Border Gate Project (Vietnam) - Huu Nghi Quan (China), thereby making an important contribution to promoting economic and trade exchanges between Vietnam and China in particular, as well as with ASEAN countries and other countries in general.
