Regarding the implementation of the socio -economic development plan for the first 6 months of the year; main tasks and solutions for the last 6 months of 2024, the People's Committee of Lang Son province said that, regarding the development of border gate economy, the border gate economy continues to develop, creating a driving force to promote the province's economic growth. Focus on accelerating the progress of establishing and completing plans for border gate economic zones; urging the implementation of infrastructure investment projects and non-budget projects in border gate areas.

Total import and export turnover of goods declared at the Provincial Customs Department increased by 20.8% over the same period, estimated at 2,720 million USD, reaching 53.3% of the plan, of which: Exports reached 1,300 million USD, reaching 43.3%, up 3.3%; imports reached 1,420 million USD, reaching 67.6%, up 43.1%. Local export goods were estimated at 74 million USD, reaching 43.8% of the plan, up 2.8% over the same period.

In the last 6 months of 2024, Lang Son province will continue to focus on developing border gate economy, speeding up the progress of adjusting the Master Plan for the construction of Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone, Lang Son province until 2045 and functional areas, border gate areas.

At the same time, immediately implement the pilot project to build a smart border gate on the dedicated road for transporting goods in the area of ​​landmarks 1119-1120 and the dedicated road for transporting goods in the area of ​​landmarks 1088/2-1089 at Huu Nghi - Huu Nghi Quan international border gate after being approved by the Prime Minister.

Proactively update the import-export situation and import-export mechanisms and policies of China, to synchronously deploy solutions to effectively support businesses and import-export activities across the border.

Implement solutions to speed up progress, remove difficulties for local exports, strive to increase local exports by 8-9%. Implement the contents of the project "Technical support for the construction of Tan Thanh - Po Chai Trade and Tourism Cooperation Zone".

Industrial production continues to recover

Regarding industrial production, trade, services and tourism, according to the People's Committee of Lang Son province, industrial production continues to recover, in which the processing and manufacturing industry continues to contribute positively to the overall industrial production results of the province. The industrial production index (IIP) is estimated to increase by 5.14%; 8/13 main industrial products in the area have increased output.

In addition, two industrial clusters have been established, including: Na Duong 1 and Na Duong 3 Industrial Clusters, Loc Binh District; at the same time, the progress of infrastructure investment in Hop Thanh 1, 2, Dinh Lap, Ho Son 1, Hoa Son 1 and Bac Son 2 Industrial Clusters has been accelerated. Thereby, the total number of industrial clusters in the province has increased to 9 clusters.

The province also organizes the implementation of Vietnam's National Energy Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2045; coordinates and creates conditions for Ban Nhung Hydropower Plant to generate commercial electricity from March 27, 2024.

Commercial activities developed in the right direction, prices of basic essential consumer goods were basically stable, inflation continued to be controlled, however, purchasing power and consumer demand of people tended to decrease compared to the same period due to the sluggish real estate market, people's lives still faced difficulties, not yet recovered due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, purchasing power, consumption, demand for food, entertainment decreased compared to the same period.

The average consumer price index (CPI) increased by 2.85%, although higher than the same period (more than 0.43% point) but lower than the national average. Total retail sales of goods and consumer services are estimated at 17,760.12 billion VND, reaching 43.86% of the plan, up 13.12%.

On the other hand, developing a variety of commercial and service businesses from urban areas to rural centers. Transportation, warehousing of goods and passengers basically meet the transportation and travel needs of people and businesses; postal and telecommunication services continue to be improved, service quality is enhanced, revenue is stable, and progress is achieved.

The tourism sector continues to recover and develop. The Provincial People's Committee has directed the strong implementation of activities and measures to stimulate tourism in association with the organization of attractive spring festivals imbued with national identity, promoting regional linkage activities, international cooperation, promoting the development of new community tourism products, and developing tourism human resources.

Total number of tourists and revenue increased significantly, exceeding the set schedule, attracting about 2.97 million visitors, reaching 73.2% of the plan, up 5.3% over the same period; estimated revenue was VND 2,603 ​​billion, reaching 60.5%, up 20.4%.

In the coming time, Lang Son province will focus on implementing the Plan on restructuring the Industry and Trade sector according to Decision 165/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister; researching and implementing power source and grid projects according to Decision 262/QD-TTg dated April 1, 2024 of the Prime Minister approving the plan to implement the National Power Development Plan.

At the same time, create favorable conditions and promptly remove difficulties for industries, especially those with indexes decreasing compared to the same period. Organize work with the Electricity Corporation and related enterprises to discuss solutions to increase electricity and coal production output; pay attention to promoting the early implementation of wind power projects.

Actively implement the management and development of industrial clusters according to Decree No. 32/2024/ND-CP dated March 15, 2024 of the Government. Focus on speeding up the appraisal and establishment of industrial clusters according to plan; urge investors to promptly start construction of established industrial clusters.

Promote the exploitation and development of the domestic market, strengthen trade promotion, stimulate domestic consumption, and mobilize Vietnamese people to prioritize using Vietnamese goods. Do a good job of orienting the development of production and consumption markets for the province's key products.

Focus on investing in modernizing the distribution system in rural and mountainous areas; closely combining traditional and modern trade. Improve service quality and operational efficiency of the banking system, transportation, postal and telecommunications services. Continue to implement measures to stimulate tourism; strengthen management and control of tourism service quality, improve the quality of human resources, facilities, tourism links...
