Doctors are intervening in the case of baby Ly D.D choking on a foreign object. |
Upon admission, the doctors and nurses promptly examined the boy and discovered that he had swallowed a foreign object stuck in his esophagus. X-ray results showed that the metal object was blocking the upper third of the esophagus, a very dangerous position that could cause airway compression if not treated promptly.
The medical team of Bac Quang Regional General Hospital quickly performed an emergency endoscopy. After more than 10 minutes of concentration and tension, the nearly 3cm long foreign object was safely removed without causing damage to the esophagus. After the intervention, the patient's health was stable and he continued to be monitored at the hospital.
According to the family, while playing at home, baby D accidentally swallowed the hook of his school bag. After swallowing, he had difficulty swallowing, chest pain, vomiting, and mild difficulty breathing. The family quickly took the baby to a private clinic for examination but could not handle the situation, so they took baby D to the emergency room.

Through the above incident, doctors recommend that families should not let children play alone with small, sharp objects such as coins, beads, buttons, keychains, hard sticks, etc. Children should be trained in the habit of not putting objects in their mouths and should always be managed and monitored.
