Asian record for Vietnam in the field of assisted reproduction

DNVN - Tam Anh General Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City has just been recognized by the Asian Record Organization as the "First hospital in Asia to have an embryology lab system that meets ISO 5 standards according to the 'lab in lab' model". This is an important milestone in the field of reproductive support in the country.

According to Professor, Academician Hoang Quang Thuan, representative of the World Records Union (WorldKings) and the Vietnam Record Association, the appraisal process was conducted scientifically , transparently, based on independent data on design, operating procedures, IVF success rate and service quality. The advisory board, including medical experts from many Asian countries and the US, participated in the review before making the recognition decision.

Dr. Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury, President of World Record Alliance, emphasized: “Tam Anh General Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City has made outstanding contributions to the field of assisted reproduction in Vietnam. This achievement has special significance for society in the context of the rapidly increasing demand for in vitro fertilization (IVF) in Vietnam, India, Asia as well as around the world.”

The “lab within a lab” model was designed by the Reproductive Support Center of Tam Anh General Hospital with an ISO 5 standard embryo culture room located inside the ISO 6 gamete manipulation room. This arrangement helps the culture environment to always be stable, reduces the risk of bacterial, fungal, and viral infections, and at the same time improves the efficiency of fertilization and embryo development.

Master, Doctor Giang Huynh Nhu - Director of Tam Anh IVF Center, Ho Chi Minh City - said that the construction and operation of this system requires strict standards, from gas installation, equipment, to human resource training and maintenance. After 5 years of continuous inspection by Pasteur Institute, the embryology lab still maintains the air quality standard ISO Class 5.

From 2021 to 2024, the cumulative pregnancy rate at IVF Tam Anh Ho Chi Minh City averaged 80.1%, and in the group of patients with multiple failures, it reached 71.9%. The unit also applied a time-lapse embryo culture system with continuous camera observation, along with AI to support embryo prognosis, helping specialists make more accurate choices.

According to MSc. Dr. Giang Huynh Nhu, “the biggest goal of IVF Tam Anh is not only to help women get pregnant but also to give birth to healthy babies, improving the quality of the breed”. Health surveys show that 100% of children born from IUI/IVF techniques here develop normally, even exceeding physical standards.
