Lai Chau: Opening of the 2025 Gender Mainstreaming Capacity Building Training Course (Project 08)

(laichau.gov.vn) This morning (September 29), the Department of Home Affairs coordinated with the Provincial Women's Union, the Party Committee of the Provincial Party agencies to organize the opening of the Training Course to improve capacity on gender mainstreaming in 2025 (Project 08: Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children according to the National Target Program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021 - 2030, Phase I: From 2021 to 2025 in Lai Chau province).

Attending the opening ceremony were comrades: Khoang Thi Thanh Nga - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Provincial Party agencies; Tran Duc Hien - Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs; 52 trainees who are Chairwomen of the Women's Union, civil servants of the Office of the People's Council - People's Committee of communes and wards in the province.

Comrade Tran Duc Hien - Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs delivered the opening speech of the training course.

Speaking at the opening of the training course, Mr. Tran Duc Hien - Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs affirmed: In recent years, the Party and the State have issued many policies and guidelines to promote gender equality and enhance the position of women in all areas of social life. In particular, the integration of gender issues into the process of building, implementing, monitoring and evaluating socio -economic development programs, plans and policies has been increasingly focused on and strongly implemented.

Emphasizing that the training course aims to equip cadres and civil servants with the necessary knowledge and skills on gender mainstreaming in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs, plans, policies and development projects at the local level, he asked the trainees to actively exchange and share experiences and knowledge; strictly comply with the class regulations; effectively apply the knowledge and skills acquired in practical work, contributing to improving the effectiveness of implementing socio-economic development policies and promoting gender equality at the grassroots level...

Comrade Khoang Thi Thanh Nga - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Provincial Party agencies conveyed some basic concepts of gender at the training course.

During the training course, trainees will be taught and guided on professional topics such as: Some basic concepts of gender; prominent gender issues in ethnic minority and mountainous areas; communication on gender equality; gender mainstreaming; gender-responsive budgeting; developing plans to promote gender equality.

In addition, the training course also organized group discussion activities, shared experiences, and resolved difficulties and problems that comrades were facing during the actual implementation process in localities and units to serve as a basis for implementing activities after the training.

The training course is expected to take place over 2 days from September 29 to 30, 2025.
