This is the national emergency number, operating nationwide from August 23 according to Decree 200/2025 of the Government .
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Hoang Hiep emphasized that widely disseminating hotline 112 at this time is very necessary, because in reality many people still do not know or are not used to using it.
Hotline 112 receives information about incidents, natural disasters, catastrophes, risks and requests for assistance from organizations and individuals, then connects to functional forces to deploy rescue.
The 112 system is designed to be directly connected with familiar emergency numbers such as 113, 114, 115, along with the Vietnam Coastal Information Station system and communication channels serving civil defense.
The 112 centers are located at the Military Commands of provinces and centrally-run cities, the Hanoi Capital Command and the Ho Chi Minh City Command. The switchboard operator is responsible for recording information, reporting immediately to the commander, and forwarding it to the responsible authorities for handling. In cases beyond the local capacity, the information will be reported to the National Civil Defense Command to promptly mobilize support.
Switchboard 112 is managed by the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Science and Technology in coordination with telecommunications enterprises ensures smooth connection, free calls, messages and multimedia data.
In particular, the system offers free calls to landlines, mobiles, messages and multimedia to the 112 switchboard system.
