After increasing 0.3%/year deposit interest rates for terms of 1-6 months and 0.1%/year deposit interest rates for terms of 7-36 months on July 9, Vietnam Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank (VietBank) continues to increase short-term deposit interest rates.

Accordingly, VietBank increased 0.2%/year deposit interest rates for terms from 1-3 months from today, July 16.

The current online savings interest rate for 1-month term at VietBank is 3.6%/year, 2-month term is 3.7%/year and 3-month term is 3.8%/year.

VietBank keeps the interest rates unchanged for the remaining terms. The interest rates for 4-5 month terms are 3.7% - 3.8%/year; 6 month terms 4.9%/year; 8-10 month terms 4.7%/year; 11 month terms 4.8%/year; 12 month terms 5.3%/year; 14 month terms 5.4%/year; 15 month terms 5.6%/year; 16-17 month terms 5.7%/year and 18-36 month terms have the highest interest rates of up to 5.9%/year.

With an interest rate of 5.9%/year, VietBank is one of the leading banks in terms of interest rates for deposits with terms from 18-36 months.

Besides VietBank, only BaoViet Bank and PGBank listed interest rates of 5.9%/year for 18-36 month term deposits. Besides, MB Bank, although only listed interest rates of 5%/year for 18-month term deposits, also raised interest rates for 24-36 month term deposits to 5.9%/year last week.

However, this is not the highest interest rate when the group of banks OCB, HDBank, OceanBank, NCB,SHB , BVBank and ABBank have raised the interest rate for some long-term deposits to 6-6.1%/year.

Specifically, the current highest interest rate on the market is 6.1%/year, listed by HDBank for 12-month term deposits; NCB and OceanBank listed for 18-36 month term deposits and SHB listed for 36-month term deposits.

The 6%/year interest rate is currently listed byOCB for 36-month term deposits, while BVBank has just applied this interest rate to 18-36 month term deposits.

To date, 10 commercial banks have increased their deposit interest rates since the beginning of July. Banks that have increased interest rates include NCB, Eximbank, SeABank, VIB, BaoViet Bank, Saigonbank, VietBank, MB, BVBank, and KienLong Bank.

Of which, VietBank is the first bank to increase interest rates for the second time since the beginning of the month.
