First time organizing Cho Lon culinary festival with dim sum dishes

Mr. Tran Minh Sang - Head of Economic Department of District 5 (HCMC) - said: "This festival aims to promote the culinary brand of District 5 with the goal of turning District 5 into a culinary capital that attracts the attention of tourists and residents, creating a unique culinary promotion campaign that is meaningful and closely linked to the interests of the community; making this place an unmissable destination".
According to Mr. Sang, District 5 is an ideal dining place for gourmets, international businessmen and tourists . "Eat in District 5, sleep in District 3, hang out in District 1" is a long-standing saying, but its value remains intact.

Mr. Tran Minh Sang - Head of Economic Department of District 5 - emphasized: "Developing culinary business is almost like developing the traditional profession of the Vietnamese community of Chinese origin, contributing to further portraying the unique identity of the locality".

Ms. Tran Ngoc Nguyet Que - Director of Santani Company - the unit coordinating with District 5 People's Committee to carry out the event, spoke at the press conference.

Locals and tourists will experience and enjoy an attractive menu including: Vietnamese cuisine (tea, coffee, coconut, cool drinks, pennywort...) - Chinese cuisine (dimsum, duck noodles, wontons, chicken rice, dumplings...). Notably, diners also have the opportunity to participate in the elaborate food preparation process through kitchen workshops.

The organizers of the Cho Lon Food Story Festival hope to build a brand for Chinese cuisine with the goal of making District 5 the city's leading culinary tourism destination.

On this occasion, the organizing committee also announced many notable information surrounding the short film contest "Delicious Food District 5" (receiving entries from July 25 to September 15) with a jury including director Ly Minh Thang, actor Hua Vi Van, actor Huynh Lap...

Besides his artistic activities, actor Hua Vy Van is also the founder and operator of a Chinese restaurant.

In particular, this festival implements new forms of community interaction such as people only need to scan QR Code to be able to visit online ancient culinary and cultural sites of temples, famous assembly halls, learn about the exhibition area of ​​Chinese and Southern glass paintings...
