Filled with alluvium from two rivers, this place not only nurtures lush vegetable gardens and colorful flower gardens, but also opens up a peaceful rural space right next to the city.

Early morning in Binh Ngoc vegetable village, dew still lingers on the young leaves. Stretching across the fields, rows of water spinach, Malabar spinach, mustard greens, spinach, lettuce… are as lush as a soft green carpet. In the fields, many farmers bend over their vegetable beds, diligently weeding and hoeing. From afar, the calls of the farmers calling to each other echo, making the early morning picture here more bustling and full of life.

In the story next to the vegetable bed, Mrs. Trinh Thi Bich Lieu, 68 years old, in Ngoc Lang neighborhood, shared: "Growing vegetables is not hard but requires a lot of work, the income is modest, enough to eat, and in good years there is a little extra." Having spent her whole life working on vegetable fields, Mrs. Lieu, like the people here, is still loyal to vegetables as a part of life. Her family has 3 sao of land, every day she and her husband diligently sow seeds, water, and fertilize until harvest day. Thanks to those vegetable plots, she and her husband have raised 3 children to grow up, get married.

The entire Binh Ngoc area has long lived on growing vegetables and flowers. Ngoc Lang, Ngoc Phuoc 1, Ngoc Phuoc 2 have become the places that supply green vegetables to Tuy Hoa ward and surrounding areas. The vegetable fields are always bustling all year round, people are busy from one crop to another, only resting a little during the two months of flood (September and October of the lunar calendar).

Binh Ngoc vegetable and flower village is green on the Ba River.

Mr. Ha Van Lam, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward and Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Tuy Hoa ward, said: "Currently, the whole ward has about 450 households growing over 42 hectares of vegetables and flowers of all kinds. Every year, people grow 7 crops of vegetables and 1 crop of Tet flowers. That is both a source of income and a way for people to preserve their traditional profession."

For over 10 years, the people here have been persistent in building the Binh Ngoc safe vegetable brand. Many areas have been produced according to VietGAP procedures, minimizing pesticides. Thanks to that, Binh Ngoc vegetables are increasingly trusted in markets, restaurants, hotels, and supermarkets.

Besides vegetable growing, Binh Ngoc is also famous for its flowers, especially gladiolus flowers for Tet. The flower varieties are imported from Da Lat, thanks to the care of the people, the flowers are big, long and often bloom right on Tet. Each time the flower crop is in season, the price is good, the Tet of the farmers is as brilliant as the flowers. When December comes, from the 15th day of the lunar calendar onwards, the flower market along National Highway 1 becomes bustling beside Song Chua bridge. Trucks line up to carry Binh Ngoc flowers everywhere, bringing the colors of the homeland flowers to every region.

Not only stopping at the production value, Binh Ngoc vegetable and flower village was also included in the community tourism project by the People's Committee of Tuy Hoa City. Coming here, visitors can experience daily work, feel the simple life close to nature and the countryside.

Binh Ngoc vegetable and flower village today not only feeds many generations, keeps the soul of the countryside in the middle of the city, but also promises to become an attractive community tourism destination. That is how the people here both preserve tradition and open up a new direction for the future.
