Provincial leaders work with the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board on projects at Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone

On September 24, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Thanh had a working session with the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board regarding projects in Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone, the implementation of the Master Plan for the construction of Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone to 2045 and the results of implementing the directions of the Provincial People's Committee.

After the Master Plan was approved by the Prime Minister , the Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 1130 for implementation. On that basis, the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board coordinated with departments and branches to announce the plan, prepare dossiers for marking, review and adjust the detailed and zoning plans and propose a list of priority investment projects.

One of the key projects is the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway, nearly 51km long, expected to be completed in 2027. To synchronize the infrastructure, the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board plans to build main routes connecting the expressway, upgrade the border gate area, joint control station and implement a drainage canal project with a total capital of nearly 1,000 billion VND.

Regarding the inspection conclusion for 11 projects at Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone, the Management Board has divided the handling groups: Proposing the Central Government to remove obstacles for the Dai An Saigon Industrial Park project; guiding 4 investors to complete procedures. The unit is the investor of 8 traffic routes longer than 8.9km, with capital of over 410 billion VND, but progress is still difficult due to slow site clearance and design adjustments. By mid-September 2025, the disbursed capital reached over 39 billion VND.

In addition, the Management Board is coordinating to prepare infrastructure to serve the 2nd Vietnam - Cambodia Border Defense Friendship Exchange Program at the Defense Minister level, scheduled to be held at Moc Bai International Border Gate next November.

Concluding the working session, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Thanh requested the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board and departments and branches to focus on seriously implementing the instructions of the Provincial People's Committee; prioritize drainage canal projects, and at the same time plan a synchronous water supply and drainage system; along with that, it is necessary to upgrade border gate infrastructure and wharf infrastructure according to appropriate scale, long-term orientation, ensuring architectural harmony and compliance with legal regulations.

He emphasized that the review of border gate infrastructure must be synchronized with the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway and other key routes, and projects must be arranged in order of priority; at the same time, good preparation for defense diplomacy must be made, and the event must be successfully organized next November.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also noted that management work must be associated with inspection and examination in accordance with correct procedures, creating favorable conditions for businesses and investors./.
