Village 4, Tan Tien commune has 169 households merged from 3 villages (village 6, village 7 and Khau Lau village), with 10 ethnic groups living together. Among them, there are more than 30 households of Dao Thanh y ethnic group (formerly belonging to Khau Lau village). Therefore, the Dao Thanh y ethnic group here still preserves many good customs and practices, including the village praying ceremony.
He performed a ceremony at the village temple.
Mr. Truong Van Tuot, village 4, said that every year, the village praying ceremony is performed 5 times, equivalent to 4 quarters of the year and 1 time on the occasion of Tet, summarizing the year. The ceremony day is usually the 15th of the first month of the quarter, and in some places, the Dao people do it on the 1st. To perform the ceremony, people often invite a prestigious teacher, also known as the boss, to worship at the village temple, praying for the villagers to always be healthy, have a favorable business, a bountiful harvest, a warm and happy family...
Mr. Vuong Tu Phin, Head of Village 4, shared that the offerings to the gods and ancestors are usually made from pigs, chickens, along with rice, wine, water... These are the products that the villagers raise and produce. On the day of the ceremony, the villagers get up early to prepare, with a sincere heart to offer to the gods and ancestors, praying for good luck and prosperity for the villagers.
Not only does it have a profound humanistic meaning, the ceremony is also an opportunity to unite the community and promote village solidarity. Mr. Truong Van Dung, village 4, expressed that no matter where they are, the Dao Thanh Y people are always united, attached, and support each other in life. Therefore, the village prayer ceremony is maintained on the full moon day of January, April, July, October and December every year. This is a long-standing custom for people to turn to the gods and ancestors, hoping for the best luck and well-being for everyone. The offerings do not need to be high or full, what is important is the sincerity of each person in the village.
The village praying ceremony is a beautiful spiritual and cultural feature of the Dao Thanh Y people in village 4, Tan Tien commune (Yen Son). Thereby, it contributes to maintaining and promoting the cultural identity of the Dao ethnic group in the locality.
