Mr. Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, stated that the UN is very concerned about the information that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has conducted many missile attacks on targets in Syria and Iraq.

He called on relevant parties to exercise maximum restraint to avoid further escalating the regional situation and causing more serious consequences.

UN Secretary-General Guterres stressed that all security concerns between Iraq and Iran should be resolved through dialogue and peaceful means, in accordance with the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity and good neighborliness.

Meanwhile, Reuters quoted the Iraqi Foreign Ministry as saying that the country has officially complained to Iran to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) about Tehran's attack.

The complaint was sent to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the President of the UN Security Council through Iraq's permanent mission to the UN in New York.

Earlier, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry condemned Iran's attack and warned that the government "will take all necessary legal steps," including "complaining to the Security Council."

Iraq also announced that it would publish the results of its investigation into the attacks, to prove to the public the falsehood of the accusations made by those responsible for these attacks.

In addition, Iraq has recalled its Ambassador to Iran Nassir Abdel Mohsen for consultations.

According to a statement by the IRGC, on January 15, the force launched a series of missiles targeting "terrorist and Mossad-related facilities" in Syria as well as the Kurdish region in Iraq in response to "terrorist attacks that took the lives of many Iranians".

On January 3, a terrorist attack occurred at a cemetery in the Iranian city of Kerman - where a memorial service for senior IRGC commander Qassem Soleimani was taking place - killing nearly 100 people and injuring many others. The self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization admitted to carrying out two explosions at this cemetery.
