Tran Quyet Chien and Bao Phuong Vinh will meet their old opponents again in the semi-finals of the 2025 World Carom Billiards Team Championship taking place in Viersen, Germany.

In the quarter-finals that took place on the night of March 15, the Vietnamese team had a perfect record against the Mexican team. Tran Quyet Chien defeated Javier Vera with a score of 40-28 (after 23 shots), while Bao Phuong Vinh won 40-14 against Christian Hernandez (after 16 shots). With 2 wins, the Vietnamese team won a ticket to the semi-finals of the 2025 World Team Carom Billiards Championship.

In the semi-finals, the Vietnamese team will meet the same opponent they faced in the group stage, the Belgian team. Tran Quyet Chien will compete with Peter Ceulemans, while Bao Phuong Vinh will face Roland Forthomme. Both matches will take place at 5 p.m. this afternoon (March 16, Vietnam time).

In theory, the two Vietnamese players are rated higher. But when the Belgian players are all names of high class, surprises can easily happen. This was proven through the match in the group stage. Vietnam's number 1 player and world number 4 Tran Quyet Chien was defeated 34-40 by Peter Ceulemans (world number 17).

But in the case of a team with 1 winner and 1 loser, the team will enter a decisive penalty shootout. In the penalty shootout, all 4 players will compete on one table, playing in a doubles format (taking turns playing the cue).
