At the age of 42, Nguyen Tien Minh still pursues his passion for badminton as an athlete and coach. Currently ranked 358th in the world , the former No. 1 badminton player of Vietnam has to compete from the qualifying round of the men's singles of the 2025 Vietnam Open. He will face Indian player Orijit Chaliha (ranked 309th in the world) at 12:40 today to find a chance to enter the main round. In his career, Tien Minh won a world bronze medal and was in the top 5 players on the Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings.

Also today, the wife of tennis player Nguyen Tien Minh, Vu Thi Trang (ranked 129th in the world), competed in the women's singles qualifying round. Vu Thi Trang's opponent in the first round of the qualifying round taking place at 11 a.m. was tennis player Aashi Rawat (India, ranked 134th in the world). Vu Thi Trang held the No. 1 position in Vietnamese women's badminton for many years before being dethroned by Nguyen Thuy Linh. At the age of 33, Vu Thi Trang continues to compete in suitable domestic and international tournaments.
