Top student receives scholarship

On the morning of September 27, the University of Health Sciences (VNU-HCM) held the opening ceremony for the 2024-2025 school year and awarded the top students of the 2024 admissions. This is the first opening ceremony of the school after upgrading from the Faculty of Medicine - VNU-HCM last June.

At the opening ceremony, Professor, Doctor, Doctor Dang Van Phuoc, Honorary Rector of the University of Health Sciences, shared with new students about initiative, connection and responsibility.

That is, be proactive in entering university. It will be an open environment, a test for you to improve and develop yourself. Be proactive in everything, arrange your personal life, study, seek knowledge, and practice to form core competencies.

Nowadays, the strong development of science, technology, social networks, and increasingly better information infrastructure has brought many opportunities for children to access and acquire knowledge, but social networks are also gradually losing their connection with life. Many children are far from real life, only working with computers and making friends on social networks.

"You should step out into the real world more, approach life more to enrich your life and nurture your soul. Only when you feel the pain of others and live with love, I believe you will become doctors and medical staff with good qualities and ethics and fulfill your mission well" - Professor Phuoc emphasized.

Professor Dang Van Phuoc believes that choosing the field of health sciences as a career path is to determine the responsibility and professional ethics of a doctor, pharmacist, nurse, or medical staff in the future. Responsibility is a quality that every person, in every profession, needs to have. For those who directly care for and protect people's health and lives, responsibility must be placed first.

Dr. Phuoc also did not forget to mention the recent natural disaster caused by storm No. 3 to the people of the North. According to him, in times of trouble, the spirit of mutual love and "love others as you love yourself" is most clearly demonstrated. From the reality of the country, he expressed his belief that future doctors will cultivate in themselves the spirit of a "soldier" in white, responsible for taking care of the health of the community, contributing to building a healthy nation and a strong country.

"Today, when you put on the white blouse, it means that you will shoulder a noble responsibility but also many difficulties. I hope that you will place the image of the exemplary medical staff as a monument in your mind, so that from there you will aspire to follow their example, practice and cultivate yourself" - Professor said.

In 2024, the University of Health Sciences will enroll 555 new students in 5 majors (medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, traditional medicine and nursing), achieving 100% of the set target. The top student in the entrance exam based on the graduation exam score is 27.83 points (medicine), and based on the competency assessment score is 1,048. points (medical field)…

On this occasion, the school also awarded 10 new students who were valedictorians in 5 majors with the sponsorship of many businesses in the medical field. The school also commended and rewarded 2 groups and 30 individual students with outstanding achievements in studying and training in the 2023-2024 school year.
