120 works selected for the final round of the 8th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award

By the time of closing the submission of entries for the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award, the Award Standing Body (Party Building Magazine) had received a total of 2,216 works, an increase of 184 works compared to 2022 (8.6%). Of these, there were 755 print works, 549 electronic works, 530 television works, 280 radio works and 102 photojournalistic works.

Comrade Phan Thang An, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Tournament chaired the meeting.

The Organizing Committee of the Golden Hammer and Sickle Awards has established a Preliminary Council consisting of the Chairman of the Council, 4 Vice Chairmen of the Council and 56 members who are dedicated, responsible and experienced journalists in judging journalism awards. With a spirit of urgency and high responsibility, from November 17, 2023 to December 6, 2023, all 6/6 subcommittees of the Preliminary Council completed the judging of the preliminary round works.

After discussion, the Preliminary Council unanimously introduced 120 works for the final round. Specifically, the Print Newspaper Subcommittee 1 (editorials, commentaries, special articles...) selected 15 works, the Print Newspaper Subcommittee 2 (reports, investigations, reflections...) selected 31 works, the Electronic Newspaper Subcommittee selected 27 works, the Visual Newspaper Subcommittee selected 26 works, the Radio Subcommittee selected 13 works, and the Photo Subcommittee selected 8 works.

Concluding the meeting, comrade Phan Thang An assessed that the preliminary sub-committees had worked urgently and responsibly, selecting outstanding works to introduce to the final round.

He noted that the Organizing Committee of the Award needs to do a better job of communicating and promoting the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award, and have better forms of propaganda and orientation next year so that press and media agencies can closely follow the theme and select outstanding works from the grassroots to submit to the Award...
