Always accompany, listen and support FDI enterprises in Vietnam

(Chinhphu.vn) - On the afternoon of September 30, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Finance coordinated with the Korean Embassy to organize a tax and customs policy dialogue conference with Korean enterprises. The event affirmed the commitment to accompany, listen to and support the FDI business community in Vietnam.

Deputy Minister of Finance Cao Anh Tuan and Mr. Choi Young Sam - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Vietnam co-chaired the conference.

Mr. Cao Anh Tuan, Deputy Minister of Finance, emphasized that after more than 30 years of establishing diplomatic relations, Vietnam and Korea have become leading important partners in many fields, especially economic, trade and investment cooperation. In the context of the unpredictable and complicated world situation, the bilateral relationship has remained stable and increasingly strengthened.

According to the Deputy Minister, major challenges such as political instability, geopolitics or global financial and monetary risks are on the rise. However, the Vietnam - Korea relationship is still developing in both quantity and quality. In particular, policies on administrative procedures, taxes and customs always receive top attention from businesses. The Ministry of Finance affirms that it will continue to actively support to bring policies into life.

The Deputy Minister of Finance said that in 2025, in the context of the domestic macro economy still facing difficulties and the global economy forecast to be complicated, the Ministry of Finance has urgently presented support solutions on taxes, fees, charges and land rents to be applied from the beginning of the year. In addition, the Ministry has maintained annual dialogues with Korean enterprises to help them understand policies, remove difficulties, ensure rights, create a transparent and fair investment environment, in accordance with international practices.

At the 2024 dialogue conference, the Ministry of Finance received and resolved 35 problems, including 23 tax problems and 12 customs problems. These issues were answered directly at the conference or in writing to the Embassy, ​​and were also made public on the websites of the General Department of Taxation and the General Department of Customs for businesses to easily follow.

Deputy Minister of Finance Cao Anh Tuan highly appreciated the efforts and contributions of enterprises, including Korean enterprises, to the socio-economic development of Vietnam. He affirmed that the Ministry of Finance always pays attention to and actively supports the business community.

In the context of global economic fluctuations and domestic macroeconomic difficulties, the Ministry of Finance has urgently researched and submitted to competent authorities solutions to support taxes, fees, charges and land rents, applicable from the beginning of 2025, with a total value of nearly VND 242 trillion.

The tax sector has strongly implemented digital transformation, administrative reform, and taxpayer-centricity. It has upgraded online public services throughout the process, deployed eTax and eTax Mobile, and applied automatic personal income tax refunds from April 2025; and applied AI and Big Data in tax management.

Meanwhile, the customs sector promotes digital transformation, reforming administrative procedures, supporting businesses smoothly and effectively. Applying AI to Chatbot, providing online public services, reducing time and costs for businesses.

"Thanks to the efforts of businesses and the effective implementation of support solutions, the 2025 budget collection results have shown positive signs. The Ministry of Finance acknowledges the contributions of the Korean business community in Vietnam," Deputy Minister Cao Anh Tuan emphasized.

This year's conference takes place in the context of the Vietnam - Korea cooperation relationship continuing to expand and achieve comprehensive results. The event aims at the following goals: Strengthening substantive dialogue, promptly resolving difficulties arising from Korean enterprises related to tax and customs; Providing full and accurate information on new policies, helping enterprises to implement smoothly, ensuring legitimate rights; Affirming the Ministry of Finance's commitment to listen and accompany FDI enterprises, including Korean enterprises; Improving the investment - business environment to be transparent, fair and favorable; Promoting the Vietnam - Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Speaking at the conference, Korean Ambassador Choi Young Sam emphasized that over the past 30 years, the Vietnam-Korea cooperation relationship has developed in many fields, especially in economics, trade and investment. Since 2008, the tax and customs dialogue conference has become an opportunity for the Vietnamese Government and Korean businesses to directly exchange, remove obstacles and improve policies.

Korean Ambassador Choi Young Sam hopes that an open, transparent and stable tax environment will be created, encouraging new investment, expanding investment and supporting Korean enterprises to operate effectively and comply with Vietnamese laws.

In the coming time, the leaders of the Ministry of Finance said that they will continue to closely monitor the situation and resolutely implement the issued solutions on taxes, fees, charges and land rents. Therefore, the review and amendment of the Law on Tax Administration, tax policies as well as customs laws will be carried out in accordance with the strategy of reforming the tax system and developing customs until 2030, in accordance with international standards.

Deputy Minister Cao Anh Tuan hopes to continue receiving frank and constructive comments from the Korean business community in Vietnam, in order to jointly reform policies in a more transparent and specific direction, creating favorable conditions for businesses, encouraging investment, export and international integration.

At the conference, representatives of the Tax Department, Customs Department and units under the Ministry of Finance presented the main results of the past time, focusing on: Reforming administrative procedures of tax and customs authorities. New legal documents issued from March 2024 to present: Law No. 90/2025/QH15; Law on Value Added Tax No. 48/2024/QH13; Law on Special Consumption Tax No. 66/2025/QH15; and related Decrees and Circulars.

Leaders of the Ministry of Finance also directly discussed and answered questions raised by Korean enterprises. Based on the comments, the Ministry will continue to review and improve tax and customs policies, creating maximum convenience for enterprises, while improving the investment environment in a fair, transparent and effective manner.

The representative of the Ministry of Finance hopes that, along with the solutions of the Government, ministries, branches, and localities, Korean enterprises in Vietnam will continue to take advantage of opportunities for innovation, improve competitiveness, develop sustainably, and fully comply with legal regulations.

"The support of the Korean business community not only contributes to Vietnam's socio-economic development but also helps strengthen the Vietnam-Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, towards deeper and more sustainable cooperation in the future," the leader of the Ministry of Finance emphasized.
