The information was revealed by local newspaper Manchester Evening News . Accordingly, a list of all U18 players that Man United sent to "transfer partners" was leaked.

The move came as a surprise to some players, their representatives and relatives, who said they were not consulted beforehand.

According to the calculations of the Man United board of directors, they only receive a symbolic fee from the sale of these players. But in addition, Man United will attach a clause to receive 20 - 30% of the resale fee if that player is transferred again in the future.

The strategy was implemented in the context of MU needing to increase transfer revenue to ensure compliance with PSR - financial regulations that are tightening on Premier League clubs.

Selling players from the academy is a way to make a “net profit” completely off the books, because the training costs are almost zero.

For example, Man United inserted a 20% future transfer fee clause into an Under-18 player they let go. If the player was sold for €20m in the future, Man United would receive €4m and have an extra €12m on their books to spend without worrying about being counted as a financial loss.

Due to heavy losses over the years, Man United's financial situation is now very bad. Not only do they lack money, but even if they had money, they could not spend it freely to buy players because of the pressure from PSR.

As such, Man United are pushing to sell academy graduates to generate net profits, and it's understandable why they're looking to sell their U18 players.

But that's in theory, Man United fans are very angry because the act of selling underage players is considered extremely bad.

This is a policy that completely goes against the rules of training and developing young players for a team with a long history like Man United.

In addition, selling U18 players (whose salaries are very low) usually does not bring in much profit. So most big clubs will choose to keep them until their contracts expire, even with players who have reached the end of their development potential.

The Man United leaking information about selling U18 players is considered a scandal in the English football world at the moment. Many Man United fans are expressing their anger towards the owners - the Petrochemical Group INEOS, owned by billionaire Jim Ratcliffe.

Over the past year, Mr. Ratcliffe has implemented a policy of brutally cutting down all activities of the team. Specifically, the British billionaire fired more than 200 employees and cut many benefits of the team's employees.

Man United even cut the salary of legendary coach Alex Ferguson as an honorary advisor.
