In the 2024/2025 season, The Cong Viettel Club must choose My Dinh as its home stadium. The army team must say goodbye to Hang Day Stadium due to the decision of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). This organization requires that only a maximum of 2 clubs can choose a stadium as their home stadium.
However, the My Dinh stadium's grass is seriously degraded even though The Cong Viettel has only played 3 matches on this field, one of which they had to return to Hang Day Stadium. In the match between The Cong Viettel and Hong Linh Ha Tinh in round 7, many patches of grass on the field turned yellow. In particular, in the area along the A stand near the technical cabins of the 2 teams, the grass barely grew and many patches of dirt were thrown up.

In the past 2 weeks, My Dinh Stadium has hosted a number of events, causing the quality of the grass to decline significantly. In December, another music event was scheduled right next to the Vietnam team's match day at the AFF Cup 2024. Recently, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) was forced to come up with a plan and ask the Southeast Asian Football Federation to choose Viet Tri Stadium as the home stadium for the AFF Cup 2024.

Although My Dinh Stadium does not host the Southeast Asian tournament, it is still the face of Vietnamese football. On many social media forums, fans are upset and dissatisfied with the ugly appearance of My Dinh Stadium. They demand that the national stadium be better taken care of. Previously, there were times when My Dinh Stadium did not meet the quality standards to host international matches.
Currently, VFF is waiting for opinions from the Phu Tho local organizing committee to finalize plans for the Vietnam team. Previously, Phu Tho agreed to become the home ground of the Timor Leste team, this island nation does not have a stadium that meets international standards. Timor Leste had the opportunity to play at Viet Tri stadium in some youth tournaments and they highly appreciated the organization in Phu Tho.
