In recent days, Eager Village - a summer camp for children founded by MC Minh Trang in Dai Phuc commune, Thai Nguyen - has caused a stir when a parent spoke up to complain about dirty restrooms and bullying of her son during his time there.
Eager Village is a business unit with the form of summer camp to help children experience nature. Each camp lasts from 3 to 8 days with the original price from 5.8 to 11 million VND, according to information from its own website. Here, children are accepted as campers with the age from 5 to 15.
Parents accuse their children of being bullied and having dirty toilets
On July 3, Ms. L. - a parent - surprised everyone when she publicly posted about her 9-year-old son's bad experience at Eager Village. Her son attended the summer camp with a fee of nearly 10 million VND for 7 days. But here, he experienced poor facilities and was constantly bullied.
Specifically, the child was beaten, teased, and had personal belongings taken by other inmates; "the restroom was not clean, the swimming pool had a lot of larvae, mosquitoes, and the mosquito net was torn, the sleeping place had no mattress, and the blanket was not thin enough to cover it." When she posted the article, someone complained that the restroom was so dirty that "the children did not dare to defecate."
Before posting, the parent had reported the issue via the chat group to the management unit of Eager Village, but did not receive a satisfactory response.

On July 4, the official fanpage of Eager Village posted a very long post to apologize and respond to the parent. The post provided a lot of information about the village’s activities and presented many viewpoints, but did not quell the controversy.
Eager Village wrote: "Certainly the amenities at a summer camp experiencing nature in the countryside cannot be compared to those at home in terms of comfort and cleanliness; and certainly not like resorts or vacation areas.
These experiences that are not like at home somehow convey to children the message of appreciating and being grateful for what they are enjoying from their parents' hard work and efforts, things that seem to be taken for granted and taken for granted every day.
Regarding the bullying of campers, Eager Village wrote: "We understand that every parent loves their children very much and feels sorry for them. Letting unwanted things happen is truly regrettable and is also part of the Village's responsibility. However, we cannot just listen to one side and then turn around and attack the other child's family."
Eager Village founder apologizes to parents and students
On the afternoon of July 5, MC Minh Trang spoke up about the incident on her personal page. She wrote: "From the position of a founder and also a mother, I would like to send my sincere and deep apologies to the incomplete experiences that the children, parents and families have had at the Village."
MC Minh Trang said she had directly contacted the parent to inquire about her son's physical and mental health. Minh Trang, on behalf of the Eager Village team, apologized to her and her family and asked her to convey the apology to her son.
The reason for the apology is because of "the child's incomplete experiences during the summer camp and the misunderstandings and unnecessary stress during the process of the Village's management staff receiving the family's feedback."

In addition, MC Minh Trang promised to persuade the bullying camper to apologize directly to Ms. L's son.
Minh Trang said that the parent and the Village have the same opinion that "this is an opportunity for the children to learn a lesson about growing up, that when they do something wrong, they should proactively admit their mistakes, apologize, learn from their mistakes, and do better next time; and if they are treated inappropriately by their friends, they should share it promptly with adults to get the necessary support."
Minh Trang promised that Eager Village would fix the shortcomings. The village still welcomes comments and suggestions via the official fanpage, right below the post responding to Ms. L. and her family.
Many parents are still not satisfied
MC Minh Trang compared Eager Village to "being like lilies in a storm, petals folded, crouching close to the rocks and pebbles, then after going through storms and dark nights, they will bloom again and stretch out to welcome the new dawn."
But her post still could not calm the wave of parents protesting Eager Village.
One comment read: "Parents today no longer have to wait for flowery lines to feel comforted, Minh Trang.
When a crisis occurs, especially one involving children, take responsibility sincerely, briefly, and directly for what is causing the frustration - offering short-term solutions. Whatever can be done, act now, and offer viable long-term solutions to improve the current problems.
Many others questioned Minh Trang's lack of satisfactory answers about hygiene and living conditions in the village.
They wrote: "The problem is that the living conditions in the village are not guaranteed. Instead of focusing on solving this problem, you are distracting yourself with other things"; "Reading and rereading, it turns out that you are directing people in another direction? As for the lack of safety, hygiene and food, you did not mention it";
"Looking at the village model and the weak management capacity, I'm afraid if we don't improve, more serious risks will arise"...
