Messi extends Inter Miami contract until age 41, owns team with David Beckham

According to Catalunya Radio, Messi is about to sign a contract extension with Inter Miami until 2028, when the famous player will be 41 years old. Thereby, showing that he keeps his long-term commitment to the club in Miami City (USA).

The news of Messi's renewal from Catalunya Radio was also confirmed by ESPN and BBC, both of which said that negotiations are still ongoing, and despite foreign interest (mainly from Saudi Arabia), Messi seems to be staying at Inter Miami and continuing to live long-term with his family in Miami (USA).

"Messi's contract extension will be announced in the coming weeks. The new deal will last for 3 years (end of 2028), instead of the expected 2 years (2027). Among them, there are a few key terms revealed, that is Messi will have the right to terminate the contract after the 2026 World Cup. If not, by 2027, Inter Miami will have the right to terminate the contract", according to Catalunya Radio.

Based on his current form and physical condition, commentators on Catalunya Radio's program all believe that it is entirely possible for Messi to continue playing at the highest level until the end of 2028.

Messi is in excellent form in the 2025 season, having played a total of 30 matches for Inter Miami, scoring 24 goals and providing 10 assists. The 38-year-old is currently leading the MLS top scorer list with 18 goals, along with Sam Surridge of Nashville SC. He has also won the MLS Player of the Month award twice (May and July).
