It is known that these are envelopes to support the treatment costs for Nguyen Gia Huy, a student at Ly Tu Trong College, Ho Chi Minh City (Tan Son Nhat Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), who unfortunately had a work accident while working part-time during the summer.
Speaking with a reporter from Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Dr. Dinh Van De, Acting Principal of Ly Tu Trong College in Ho Chi Minh City, said the school will create the best conditions for the male student to continue studying and transfer to university.
Male student surprised when lecturer and classmates came to visit
Teacher and student suddenly appeared in the hospital room
After the last class, Mr. Trieu Phu Nguyen, lecturer of the Faculty of Dynamics, and his students went to the hospital to visit Huy. In the hospital room, the male student was surprised to see his teacher and friends.
"Since I was hospitalized, this is the first time so many people have come to visit me" - Huy said with a smile.
More than 1.5 months ago, while working overtime at a fabric factory, Huy's right hand was suddenly caught in a cutting machine. Huy was taken to two hospitals by his uncle for emergency treatment. Due to the severity and complexity of his injuries, Huy was asked to be transferred to the Orthopedic Trauma Hospital (HCMC).
As the eldest son in the family, his father was seriously ill and his family was in difficult circumstances. Therefore, when the incident happened, Huy did not dare to inform his family.
To prevent further necrosis, Huy's injured arm was surgically sutured to his abdomen.
A few days ago, Huy revealed to his classmates and called his family to inform them. From here, the school also received information about Huy's health condition. Teacher Nguyen said that up to now, Huy has undergone 3 surgeries and his health is temporarily stable.
"Even though I had to amputate my finger, I still feel very lucky, because there are people who have had work accidents and their arms were crushed by machines. Because of the long-term treatment, people often jokingly call me the "head of this hospital room" - Huy said optimistically.
No student has to drop out of school
Mr. Nguyen commented that Huy is a good student, polite, active and sociable with everyone. Due to difficult family circumstances, Huy wanted to work extra to help his family, but unexpectedly, an unfortunate incident happened.
"His arm was so badly injured but he still hid it from everyone. He was afraid that everyone would worry and he was a very understanding son. Huy did not let his parents in Ca Mau come to Ho Chi Minh City to take care of him. He took care of everything at the hospital himself," said Mr. Nguyen.
In just a short time of calling for support, the Faculty of Dynamics and the Youth Union of the school received nearly 70 million VND in funding to support students. On the outside of the envelope, the neat handwriting made Huy extremely emotional.
Holding the special gift in hand, the student expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the love of the school, parents and alumni.
Teachers and students of Ly Tu Trong College, Ho Chi Minh City visited and encouraged students who had work-related accidents.
Dr. Dinh Van De said that in addition to health issues, the school is especially concerned about Huy's spirit. Because the lack or defect of any body part will also make it difficult for the male student to live.
"The school will create the best conditions for Huy to complete his college program and support him to transfer to university (if he has a need). On the other hand, the school will introduce students to businesses that are cooperating with the school and arrange suitable jobs for Huy after graduation. Absolutely no student will have to drop out of school halfway" - Dr. De said.
