A beautiful beach in Quang Binh is severely eroded.

In the past 20 days, nearly 100m of coastline in Bao Ninh commune, Dong Hoi city ( Quang Binh ) has been eroded by waves, endangering some structures as well as the landscape. Currently, the authorities are looking for a solution.

Erosion waves create a cliff higher than 2m at Bao Ninh beach

According to Thanh Nien reporters, at Bao Ninh beach, nearly 100m of coastline was washed away by waves, creating a cliff more than 2m high.

Bao Ninh beach is a popular tourist destination during the tourist season, so wave erosion and deep inland erosion will affect the quality of tourism services in Quang Binh.

Mr. Tran Duy Khanh, Director of Dong Hoi City Public Service Management Board, said he has consulted with superiors to quickly come up with a plan to handle the phenomenon of coastal erosion.

"We just had a meeting about this issue. Provincial leaders have directed that there must be an early solution to avoid unwanted consequences. Up to now, there have been years of heavy rain and storms, but this coast has never experienced such strong erosion. It is even more strange because the weather in the past few days has been very normal," said Mr. Khanh.

Wooden fences with sandbags to prevent waves have collapsed. The strong wave erosion will affect the upcoming tourist season in Quang Binh.

According to Mr. Khanh, this phenomenon has occurred for about 20 days now, and the waves have eroded deep into public works. Recently, the Dong Hoi City Public Service Management Board erected a wooden fence and sandbag embankment in front of the lamppost area to prevent seawater from encroaching, but the fence still collapsed. The authorities were forced to handle and relocate the lamppost to ensure safety.
