A private school rewards nearly 1 billion VND to 4 national excellent students

(Dan Tri) - The reward of this private school for the second prize in the national excellent student competition is as high as the reward for Hanoi 's gold medal in the International Olympic competition.

This morning, Newton Secondary and High School held a preliminary summary of the first semester of the 2024-2025 school year. At the event, the school surprised everyone by announcing large cash prizes for 4 students who won national prizes this year.

Accordingly, the prize money for the 2 second prize winners is 300 million VND each. The third prize winner will receive 200 million VND and the consolation prize winner will receive 100 million VND. The total prize money for the 4 students is 900 million VND.

This bonus level is higher than the bonus level of all provinces and cities and 7.5 times higher than Hanoi with equivalent achievement level.

At the same time, this bonus is higher than the bonus for international Olympic gold medalists of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

In this year’s national competition for gifted students, Newton School had 5 students competing, including 4 students from the math team and 1 student from the physics team. It is unprecedented that Hanoi’s math team has 4 students from private schools.

As a result, in mathematics, Nguyen Phuc Nguyen won second prize and entered the second round of selection for the international Olympic team. Ngo Quy Duong won third prize and Ngo Duc Minh Dang won the consolation prize. In physics, Hoang Pham Minh Khanh won second prize.

All four students are in class 11G0.

Newton Secondary and High School is also the non-specialized school with the highest achievement in the 2024-2025 national excellent student exam in Hanoi.

Previously, in mid-December, Hanoi passed a Resolution regulating bonus levels for students with high achievements in domestic and international competitions and exams.

The rewards for students have increased by 2-15 times compared to before. Students who win first prize (gold medal) in the International Cultural Olympiad will receive 300 million VND. Silver, bronze and consolation prizes will receive 200, 150 and 100 million VND respectively.

If the winning student is disabled or an ethnic minority, the bonus will increase by 1.5-2 times. Teachers who directly train and develop the student will be awarded 70% of the student's bonus.
