“Red Rain” surpasses 150 billion VND, soon dethroning the highest-grossing revolutionary film

Premiered on August 22, after only 6 days in theaters, by August 27, the film “Red Rain” of the People’s Army Cinema had reached the milestone of more than 165 billion VND in box office revenue, according to data from Box Office Vietnam – an independent statistical unit. “Red Rain” is produced by the People’s Army Cinema in collaboration with HKFilm and Galaxy Studio, directed by Meritorious Artist Dang Thai Huyen. The film is inspired by the 81-day and night battle in 1972 at Quang Tri Citadel of the K3 Tam Dao Battalion - an important location for Vietnam to win at the Paris Agreement negotiation table.

The film recreates the fierce atmosphere when thousands of young soldiers had to fight in extremely difficult conditions, blood mixed with bombs and bullets. The work not only reflects the brutal scale of war but also focuses on depicting the fate, emotions, struggles and desire to live of the soldiers.

In particular, the work promotes human values, praises immortal sacrifices but still puts people at the center - people who are both ordinary and extraordinary in historical moments.

A strong cast: Producer Tri Vien, People's Artist - Cameraman Ly Thai Dung, musician Cao Dinh Thang, and actors Do Nhat Hoang, Phuong Nam, Lam Thanh Nha, Hoang Long, Dinh Khang, Steven Nguyen, Nguyen Hung, Ha Anh...

Since its release, “Red Rain” has been a “sold out” movie, with many theaters recording high occupancy rates over the past few days. In the next 1-2 weeks, experts predict that it will be difficult for any other film to surpass the film’s leading position at the box office.

Compared to “Tunnel: Sun in the Dark” – a revolutionary war film released on April 30, “Red Rain” shows a clear superiority in ticket sales speed. This is also considered a positive signal that Vietnamese audiences, especially young people, are increasingly interested in historical-war films, which were once considered “picky viewers”.

Not only creating a revenue boost, “Red Rain” also set a series of records: the fastest revolutionary war film to reach the 100 billion mark, the film released during the holidays with the highest occupancy rate in the first three days… With the current figure, many experts predict that the work will soon surpass the record of 172 billion VND of “Tunnel: Sun in the Dark” to become the highest-grossing Vietnamese revolutionary film ever.

Immediately after its premiere, the film received many positive responses from experts, media and audiences. The film moved viewers and they considered it a meaningful work to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.
