Today, May 3, Head of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection (TT&BVTV) Bui Phuoc Trang informed that this year's winter-spring crop, the whole province planted nearly 26,000 hectares of rice, and as of May 3, nearly 24,500 hectares had been harvested, reaching a rate of 95%. Due to the impact of heavy rain on the evening of May 2 and the morning of May 3, many areas of unharvested rice fell and were flooded.

According to a quick report from localities, by noon on May 3, nearly 100 hectares of rice had fallen due to heavy rain and strong winds. Because the rice was ripe, it could affect productivity and quality; in particular, areas that fell close to the ground would incur additional harvesting costs.

According to Mr. Trang, the weather forecast in the coming time is that the weather will continue to be complicated with extreme weather phenomena such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, strong gusts of wind, and the risk of falling and flooding many areas of unharvested rice is very high.

To minimize damage caused by natural disasters, the Department of Plant Protection and Development requested the People's Committees of districts, cities and towns to direct and advise people to speed up the harvest of winter-spring rice when it is ripe to limit damage caused by natural disasters and to deploy summer-autumn crop production to ensure the season.

Mobilize human resources and machinery to harvest the remaining rice areas with the motto "green house is better than old field", especially for rice areas that have fallen or been flooded to limit the impact on productivity and quality.
