BTO-The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of Ham Thuan Bac district said that as soon as the rain and tornado occurred yesterday afternoon (June 23) causing damage of about 1 billion VND, the unit coordinated with the People's Committees of Ham Chinh and Ham Thang communes and the People's Committee of Phu Long town to mobilize shock forces and coordinate with the people to overcome the consequences to stabilize people's lives. At the same time, they continued to inspect and assess the damage to propose support according to regulations.
Previously, at the above time, Ham Thuan Bac district experienced heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong gusts of wind. Particularly strong tornadoes occurred in Ham Chinh commune, Ham Thang commune and Phu Long town.
According to local statistics, the natural disaster damaged 66 houses, of which 12 had their roofs completely blown off, and 41 others had their roofs blown off or were partially damaged. In addition, 13 houses had their roofs blown off. The tornado also caused 5 electric poles along National Highway 1A to fall and break, and about 10 inter-village and inter-hamlet electric poles to fall and break; and 85 solar panels were blown away and damaged.
Currently, local authorities are continuing to propagate to people to strictly implement the implementation of response and handling of situations to prevent and avoid thunderstorms, local tornadoes, lightning and hail during the changing seasons.
