On the morning of October 1, the alluvial area near Long Bien Bridge was almost submerged, with only green treetops floating on the water surface. At lane 76 An Duong (Hong Ha ward, Hanoi ), the section connecting to the middle sandbank was flooded more than 2m deep, many households living here were isolated. People were forced to use boats to shuttle each other back and forth between An Duong street and the middle sandbank.
Mr. Toan, a resident living in the middle of the sandbank area, said: "This morning, the water was only at the edge of the bridge, still able to pass by car, but near noon, the water rose very quickly due to the flood discharge from the hydroelectric reservoirs."
The rising water level also caused many areas of crops and trees of the people in the middle of the Red River in Hanoi to be flooded. Some people tried to wade through deep water to get home, but due to the strong and dangerous current, they had to turn back and wait for boats to come to help.
Faced with complicated developments, local authorities recommend that people absolutely not be subjective, proactively move people and property to safe places, and closely monitor warning information from authorities.
