The US continues to "pump" 2 huge weapons packages, the Quad foreign ministers send a message

On July 29, the US Department of Defense issued a written announcement stating that the country had prepared two new arms aid packages for Ukraine, with a total value of up to 1.7 billion USD.

According to Russia's TASS news agency, the US government has announced a $200 million security assistance package for Ukraine, including air defense interceptor missiles, ammunition for rocket and artillery systems, as well as anti-tank weapons from US military reserves.

The second package worth $1.5 billion will support Kiev's air defense capabilities in the long term under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI).

According to the Pentagon, Ukraine will receive ammunition for the National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS), low- and medium-altitude air defense ammunition, RIM-7 air defense missiles, electronic warfare equipment, ammunition for the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS), 155 mm and 105 mm artillery shells, 120 mm mortar shells, high-precision bombs;

TOW missiles, Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems, small arms, explosives and demolition equipment and ammunition, secure communications systems, commercial satellite imaging services and various spare parts are also included in the two aid packages.

Since April 2023, the Biden administration has authorized nine security assistance packages for Ukraine. Since 2022, Washington's total military aid to Kiev has reached more than $50 billion.

Also related to the conflict in Ukraine, on the same day, the foreign ministers of the Quad group including the US, Japan, Australia and India issued a joint statement emphasizing that "the use or threat of use of nuclear weapons" in the context of the conflict in Ukraine is unacceptable.

"We underscore the importance of upholding international law and, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations, reiterate that all states must refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity and sovereignty or political independence of any state," the Quad's joint statement said.

The foreign ministers also expressed concern about the humanitarian consequences of the conflict in Ukraine and its impact on food and energy security, especially for developing and least developed countries.
