On September 5, the Ho Chi Minh City Command organized a meeting with candidates admitted to military academies and schools in 2025.
In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City will have a total of 156 candidates admitted to military academies and schools, an increase of 3 candidates compared to 2024.
During the recruitment process, the city's armed forces organized many propaganda and career guidance sessions at high schools and continuing education centers, attracting about 300,000 students to participate. The registration and preliminary selection process was conducted strictly and in accordance with regulations. The entire city had 1,137 qualified candidates applying for admission to military academies and schools.
Among them, many outstanding young faces were recognized. Phan Minh Duc, a student in the IT class at Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted (HCMC), achieved a perfect score of 30/30 and was admitted to the Military Technical Academy.

Explaining his choice of the military path, the male student said: "At first, I was hesitant about many options, but after careful research, I realized that the Military Technical Academy was the right environment. I love the military uniform, want to become Uncle Ho's soldier and develop my IT skills here."
Sharing about the review process, Duc admitted that he was initially quite stressed due to lack of direction. After the first semester, he adjusted his study plan, reasonably allocating time between studying and entertainment. Besides, Duc also said that in his family, his father and cousin both served in the military, so he received a lot of encouragement.
"Every afternoon, I study with my best friend. Thanks to that, when I enter the exam, I feel comfortable, confident, and not worried much. If I cram, I will be under a lot of pressure and easily fall into false efforts. The important thing is to have a clear roadmap, with a time to study and a time to rest," Duc said.
In the 2025 military recruitment round, many young soldiers of Ho Chi Minh City have successfully passed the entrance exams to military academies and officer schools.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quy (25 years old) previously studied automotive engineering technology at Nguyen Tat Thanh University. After graduating, he enlisted in the army in early 2025, working at Infantry Company 5, Battalion 2, Gia Dinh Regiment. After nearly 1 year of training in the military environment, Quy realized that this was a suitable environment, helping him mature in terms of physical strength, style and will. With encouragement from his family, Quy determined to register for the entrance exam to the Army Officer School 2 (Nguyen Hue University).

Sharing about the review process, Quy said that the political officers in the unit created favorable conditions in terms of time and knowledge guidance, especially in philosophy. "In the morning, I trained with my teammates, and in the evening I took the time to study by myself and review knowledge to prepare for the exam. Thanks to that, I can both complete my tasks at the unit and pursue my dream of becoming an officer," Quy said.
Also admitted in this round, Le Minh, a soldier of the Information Company, Defense Command of Region 2 - Phu Loi, also made his mark with remarkable efforts. Enlisting in the army in early 2025, after only 6 months, Minh was determined to take the exam to enter the Army Officer School 2. "The military environment gives me many things such as will, physical strength and discipline. I feel it is suitable and want to stay for a long time," Minh shared.
During the exam preparation period, Minh was given the opportunity by the unit's officers to go to the Military School of Military Region 7 to review. Although he only had 3 weeks to prepare, Minh still completed the exam subjects well. "I studied math on my own, and the teacher guided me in philosophy. Despite the great pressure, thanks to the support of the unit, I confidently entered the exam and achieved good results, passing the entrance exam to the school," Minh said.
The HCM City Military Recruitment Board assessed that the 2025 recruitment work has many advantages: close direction from all levels, close coordination between the military and local authorities, and extensive propaganda work. Thereby, helping students see the responsibilities and rights of today's youth generation before the task of building and protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.
In 2026, the Ho Chi Minh City Military Recruitment Board determined to continue promoting direct propaganda at high schools, continuing education centers and on the media. In addition, localities need to organize training for grassroots cadres and closely coordinate with schools to mobilize students to register for the recruitment.
The HCM City Military Admissions Board recommends better policies and benefits for officers and professional soldiers to attract good students to register. At the same time, there needs to be close coordination between the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Education and Training to unify the admission time, creating conditions for propaganda and career guidance to be more effective.
