The Russian Defense Ministry announced today, November 12, that Russian armed forces have repelled five Ukrainian attacks in the direction of Donetsk in the past 24 hours, causing heavy casualties to the Ukrainian army.
"In the Donetsk direction, units of the southern combat group repelled five enemy attacks near the villages of Kurdyumovka and Klishcheevka in Donetsk with the support of air and artillery. The Ukrainian armed forces lost up to 250 servicemen, including killed and wounded, three armored fighting vehicles and three pickup trucks," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
In addition, Ukraine's losses also included a Polish-made Krab self-propelled gun, a US-made M119 gun, three D-30 guns and one D-20 gun.
In addition, in the Kupyansk direction, Russian troops conducted air and artillery strikes to repel two attacks by Ukrainian assault groups of the 54th mechanized brigade near the village of Zagoruykovka in the Kharkov region, killing and wounding 40 Ukrainian troops.
The Russian army also repelled two Ukrainian attacks in the direction of Lyman, leaving 210 Ukrainian troops dead and wounded.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, an attack was repelled near the village of Nikolskoe in Donetsk. Ukrainian troops came under artillery fire near the village of Novomikhailovka and the town of Vugledar.
Ukrainian Army Commander Oleksandr Syrskyi said today that Russian forces have intensified attacks near the city of Bakhmut in Donetsk province as Moscow tries to seize control of nearby positions.
According to General Syrskyi, Ukrainian forces are repelling Russian attacks in the area. Mr. Syrskyi announced that he had visited the troops fighting in the Bakhmut and Lyman directions, considering options for "further actions and methods to increase the effectiveness of the army's combat deployment."
In a report on the morning of November 1, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that Russian forces tried to regain positions near Klishchiivka and Andriivka south of Bakhmut and near Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia province but were unsuccessful.

Bakhmut was once the fiercest and bloodiest battlefront between the Ukrainian and Russian armies. Moscow took control of Bakhmut in May, while Ukraine launched a counter-offensive in June to retake Bakhmut as well as other territories in the East and South.
At the Avdiivka front in Donetsk, Russia is concentrating its forces to control this strategic city. Avdiivka was controlled by Russia, but Ukraine took it back in September.
Avdiivka and Bakhmut play a key role in Moscow's plan to take complete control of eastern Ukraine.
Ukrainian Ground Forces spokesman Volodymyr Fitio admitted on November 12 that the weather could affect the ground campaign, hindering the movement of military equipment.
"If it starts raining now, the use of both the air force and combat drones will decrease. Therefore, moving equipment will be more difficult. However, artillery will continue to be used as before," Mr. Fitio said.
Disrupting Russian supply lines and eliminating offensive positions is one of the most important tasks for the Ukrainian army, Fitio also said.
General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, commander of Ukraine's Tavria Group fighting on the southern frontline, confirmed on November 12 that Russian forces had intensified air strikes in the south, including with air-guided bombs.
General Tarnavskyi said the Ukrainian military had recorded 30 Russian airstrikes, 712 artillery strikes and 48 clashes between Ukrainian and Russian troops in the region in the past 24 hours. This comes as Ukrainian forces continue their counter-offensive in the direction of Melitopol.
Meanwhile, the commander of the Tavria Group said Ukrainian artillery had shelled Russian positions more than 1,000 times.
