(PLVN) - On the occasion of celebrating Vietnamese Women's Day (October 20), at Yang Bay Tourist Park (Nha Trang), the contest " Food Festival - Delicious dishes from ostrich meat" took place.

The program offers visitors a unique culinary space with the main ingredient being ostrich meat, a nutritious food that is increasingly popular.

The contest "Food Festival - Delicious dishes from ostrich meat" attracted the participation of 15 teams with 60 amateur chefs from Khatoco's units and other units. Within 90 minutes, each team of 4 members prepared 3 dishes with the main ingredient being ostrich meat.

The judges of the Competition are leading chefs and culinary experts in Khanh Hoa such as: Master, culinary expert Nguyen Van Hoang - lecturer of culinary techniques at Nha Trang Tourism College; Ms. Hoang Thi Anh Tuyet - Vice President of the World Master Chef Association in Vietnam, Director of HT Chef Culinary Training Center; Mr. Do Thanh Trung - General Chef of Amiana Resort, Vice President of Nha Trang Professional Chefs Association.

The festival not only creates an attractive playground for teams to create new and nutritious dishes, but is also an opportunity for visitors to discover unique flavors from this nutritious source of ingredients.

Coming to the festival, visitors can enjoy dishes made from ostrich meat with attractive and nutritious flavors; experience cooking with the competing teams , and create new dishes from ostrich meat by themselves. In addition, visitors also have the opportunity to learn about the process of raising ostriches - the largest bird on the planet, the process of tanning and producing fashion products from ostrich leather.

At the end of the contest, the Organizing Committee awarded 1 first prize, 1 second prize, 2 third prizes, 3 consolation prizes and 2 secondary prizes including the best presentation prize and the most beautifully decorated dish prize, with a total prize value of 40 million VND.

Ostrich meat is known as “Clean food of the 21st century”, bringing many wonderful benefits to health. According to the report on nutritional content analysis of foods by the National Institute of Nutrition, 100g of ostrich meat contains 22.03g of protein, 0.52g of fat and 26.02mg of cholesterol.

Ostrich meat is low in fat, has a higher protein content than chicken, beef, pork, and much lower cholesterol content than chicken, beef, and pork, helping to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, overweight, obesity, etc.

In addition, ostrich meat is rich in iron, which is very beneficial for pregnant women and people with anemia. Ostrich meat is also suitable for the elderly, helping to reduce the risk of chronic diseases and strengthen the body's immune system.
