Artist from Lam Dong won special prize in orchid contest

A female artist from Lam Dong won special prize in the orchid exhibition and contest.

On August 9, at Yang Baytourist area in Khanh Vinh commune, Khanh Hoa province, an orchid contest and exhibition took place. The contest was organized by Khanh Hoa Provincial Ornamental Plants Association, with the participation of many artisans, clubs, and orchid enthusiasts from many provinces and cities such as Ben Tre, Can Tho, Tien Giang , Lam Dong, Long An...

The contest gathered nearly 120 artisans with more than 180 entries, hundreds of rare and unique orchid species.

Many unique orchid species were brought to the contest by the artists. In the photo is the Den formosum x Dowmarry orchid with its pure beauty .

Because there are many unique and rare orchid species, the organizers have to work hard to select the best works.

According to the organizing committee, the selection of the winning orchid works is based on criteria such as stem, leaves, roots, flowers, fragrance, rarity, and size. "Each species has its own criteria for judging, such as the flowers must be even, the roots must be covered, the scent of the flowers must be special, and the rarity of the species is also a factor in scoring" - Mr. Nguyen Quoc Dung, a member of the contest's secretariat, shared.

The organizing committee awarded a special prize to the Cattleya orchid group from Loan Orchid Garden, Bao Loc, Ward 3, Lam Dong Province . Four first prizes were awarded to the wild orchid group (one prize), Cattleya group (two prizes), and Dendro group (one prize). Three second prizes, eight third prizes, and 17 consolation prizes.

The special prize and first prize both belonged to Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Loan, from Lan Loan Orchid Bao Loc garden, ward 3 Bao Loc, Lam Dong province.

According to Mr. Le Dung Lam, Director of Yang Bay Tourist Park, through the contest, the organizing committee hopes to contribute to preserving and promoting the value of orchids in the spiritual life of Vietnamese people, while promoting the development of eco-tourism, connecting the community and promoting the image of Yang Bay destination in Khanh Vinh - Khanh Hoa to domestic and foreign friends.
