Spread the spirit of sharing

Recalling the first time he donated blood, Mr. Trong smiled gently: “When I was encouraged to donate blood, I was quite scared. Seeing the needle inserted into my body made me tremble, and I was worried about whether my health would be affected. But then, when I saw poor patients being treated and lacking blood for transfusion, I realized that a few drops of my blood could save a life. From then on, I told myself to continue participating.”

After donating blood 19 times, the initial anxiety has gradually turned into joy and responsibility. For Mr. Trong, each time he comes to donate blood is another opportunity to contribute. After donating blood, he only rests for about 10 minutes and then returns to his daily work, his health is stable and not affected at all. "Now donating blood is a very natural thing for me. I am healthy and young, why not give blood to help patients overcome critical situations?", Mr. Trong confided.

Not only did Trong donate blood himself, he also actively encouraged his relatives, friends and neighbors to participate. Up to now, he has convinced and encouraged at least 25 people to voluntarily donate blood. He said that many people were hesitant at first, but when they saw him directly donating blood many times and still healthy and enthusiastic about his work, they gradually trusted him and were willing to participate.

For example, Ms. Dinh Thi Nhan has donated blood 15 times and has just been commended by the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation; or Mr. Truong Van Nuoc and Mr. Pham Van Nho have each donated blood 4 times; Mr. Pham Van Tuan 3 times... All of them have followed the example of Mr. Trong's sincere and persistent campaign. Ms. Dinh Thi Nhan shared: "Seeing Mr. Trong donate blood many times and still be healthy, I also decided to follow his example. Now, donating blood has become a habit, a meaningful thing for me."

Noble gesture recognized

At the age of 33, unmarried, Mr. Trong is always busy with social work. In addition to group work, he also participates in sports to improve his health, preparing for the next blood donations. He believes that donating blood not only benefits patients but also helps himself become healthier. “Regular blood donation has many benefits, such as regular health monitoring, reducing the risk of excess iron in the body, helping to regenerate new blood, and preventing cardiovascular diseases. For me, each time I donate blood is a health check and adds joy when thinking about the patients who will be saved thanks to my blood,” Mr. Trong shared.

With 19 times of donating blood, Mr. Van Thai Trong has been honored and rewarded many times, notably twice by the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in Dong Thap province. However, he remains humble: "I never thought I did it to be rewarded. It all comes from responsibility, from the desire to contribute a small part to community health and social security". The blood donation movement in An Long commune is gradually becoming a beautiful humane feature, spreading widely among cadres, civil servants, union members, youth and people. Examples like Mr. Van Thai Trong have contributed to inspiring, so that "every drop of blood given, a life remains" is not just a slogan, but a concrete action, saving the lives of countless patients in need of blood.

In the peaceful land of An Long, the story of a 33-year-old man who donated blood 19 times has become a source of inspiration for a beautiful and responsible life. With that noble act, Van Thai Trong not only contributed to saving people but also sowed the seeds of love and spread the spirit of sharing in the community.
