After a period of treatment at Military Hospital 175 , musician Ton That Lap, author of the song "Sing for my people", passed away on the morning of July 26 at the hospital.

Musician Ton That Lap was born on February 25, 1942 in Hue. He was active in music in the movement Sing for my people, composing songs that resonated loudly on the streets of struggle of urban students in the South such as: Sing for my people, Go to the street, the choir Rice is singing all over the plains...

Musician Ton That Lap, author of "Singing for My People" has passed away at the age of 81.

He used to hold the positions of Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City Music Association, Vice President of Vietnam Musicians Association, and Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Music Magazine.

Musician Ton That Lap has published anthologies such as: Street songs, Singing for my people, Singing dreams, Spring love songs, Ton That Lap anthology and albums Nu hon, Spring love songs...

In addition, he also composed many dance and film music. In 2007, he was awarded the 2nd State Prize for Literature and Arts.

In 2022, at the age of 80, musician Ton That Lap will have the program Sing for My People, looking back at his more than half a century of composing career, at the Ho Chi Minh City Television Theater.

Mourning the talented musician, musician Truong Quang Luc, author of the song Vam Co Dong, shared that Ton That Lap was one of the leading musicians when composing to encourage the anti-war movement called Sing for my compatriots.

In 2022, Ho Chi Minh City Television organized the music night Sing for My People dedicated to musician Ton That Lap to look back on his more than half a century of composing career.

The Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City will organize the program Ton That Lap, Forever Echoing Songs at 7:30 p.m. on August 5 at the Ho Chi Minh City Theater.

According to information from musician Ton That Lap's family, the funeral for the musician will begin at 9am on July 28-29 at the Southern National Funeral Home (5 Pham Ngu Lao, Ward 3, Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City); the funeral is scheduled for July 30, after which he will be buried at the Ho Chi Minh City Cemetery.
