Replicate good models among Catholics

Promoting the tradition of solidarity and actively participating in patriotic emulation movements, in recent years, Thuan Nghiep parish, Bach Thuan commune, Vu Thu district ( Thai Binh province) has had many good models and creative ways of doing things, contributing with the local government to effectively carry out social security work, joining hands "For the poor - No one is left behind", creating a widespread impact in the community.

Thuan Nghiep Parish cooperated with eye hospital to organize humanitarian eye examinations for people.

Thuan Nghiep Parish is located in Thuan Nghiep village, with 117 households and 689 people, accounting for 50% of the total households and population of the village. With the motto of "good life, good religion", in recent years, the parish has organized many practical activities to help people in the community, especially the poor inside and outside the parish.

The family of Ms. Tran Thi Tinh, Thuan Nghiep village, is one of the poor households in the commune. Due to poor health, she alone raises her young children in an old, dilapidated house, with income only coming from a few gardens to earn enough to make ends meet and send her children to school. At the end of 2021, Thuan Nghiep Parish mobilized and donated money to build a new house for Ms. Tinh and her children with an area of ​​50 square meters, worth over 100 million VND. Since then, Ms. Tinh and her children have had a warm home to settle down. "Thanks to the parish's help, my mother and I have a 3-room house with a full electricity and water system," Ms. Tinh said.

Ms. Tinh's house is one of many houses built by Thuan Nghiep parish in the past 10 years to help people with especially difficult housing circumstances have a stable place to live. Each person living in the charity houses built by Thuan Nghiep parish has a different situation, from orphans, disabled people to lonely elderly people. But the important thing is that regardless of salary or religion, anyone with especially difficult circumstances will be considered for help building a house. Each charity house is worth 70 - 100 million VND, the construction cost alone is contributed by parishioners in the parish. In the past 3 years, the parish has built 3 new houses with a total value of 390 million VND, and supported the renovation of 2 houses with a total cost of 60 million VND from the support fund of the parish priest, benefactors and the workdays of parishioners.

Not only helping to build houses, for many years, the Thuan Nghiep parish has maintained charity events to give gifts to poor households. Although the gifts are not large, including rice, cooking oil and other necessities, they are a great source of encouragement for the disadvantaged households. In particular, over the past 5 years, the parish has given 10kg of rice and 100,000 VND/month to 30 households inside and outside the parish with a total value of nearly 400 million VND; given gifts to families in difficult circumstances and people with serious illnesses in 5 communes of the district with nearly 100 million VND...

Responding to the local movement to build advanced new rural areas, the people of Thuan Nghiep parish also leveled the ground, made the foundation, poured concrete on the dike road in the parish with a length of 1,020m, total cost of 1.08 billion VND, mobilizing contributions from parishioners on both sides of the road, each person contributed 2 million VND. Children who are working and living inside and outside the parish sponsored and supported 150 million VND to build roads, helping to make the new rural area in the parish and in the village spacious, clean and beautiful.

Mr. Nguyen Van Luat - Secretary of the Party Committee of Bach Thuan Commune, Vu Thu District said that every year, Thuan Nghiep Parish does a very good job of volunteering and has been recognized by the people in Bach Thuan. These activities have created solidarity, close ties, regardless of religion among parishioners.

Respecting God, loving the country, and combining religious work with worldly work, the parishioners of Thuan Nghiep Parish have promoted the strength of national solidarity, contributing with the locality to do a good job of social security.
