Quickly fix the landslide on the Northern Railway

Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province Vo Trong Hai requested units to focus human resources to urgently fix the landslide on the North-South railway section passing through Duc Lien commune (Vu Quang); local authorities and related forces are ready with resources and human resources to support people when necessary.

Continuing his working trip to inspect the flood situation in the province, on the afternoon of October 31, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province Vo Trong Hai inspected the flood control operation at the Ngan Truoi - Cam Trang Hydropower project and the progress of repairing the landslide on the North - South railway section through Duc Lien commune (Vu Quang district).

Also attending were Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Linh; Colonel Nguyen Hong Phong - Director of the Provincial Police; Colonel Nguyen Xuan Thang - Commander of the Provincial Military Command.

According to a report from Vu Quang district, heavy rains in recent days have caused deep flooding in the downstream communes of the district. Currently, many traffic routes in the communes of Duc Bong, Duc Linh, Duc Giang, Huong Minh, Duc Lien, Vu Quang town... have been flooded, isolating many residential areas, with a length of about 29.2 km of flooding and 505 isolated households.

The whole district has 56 households with garden landslides, causing damage to fruit trees and outbuildings.

In particular, prolonged heavy rain has caused serious landslides on the North-South railway line at Km 354+900 to Km 355+400 through Lien Chau village (Duc Lien commune) and many other traffic routes in the area. Local authorities are actively coordinating and supporting Nghe Tinh Railway Company to urgently repair and safely transfer passengers.

Regarding flood control operations at the Ngan Truoi - Cam Trang Hydropower project, as of 7:00 a.m. on October 31, the water level of Ngan Truoi Lake was at 44/52m, equivalent to a capacity of 476.16/775 million ^m3 (reaching 61.44% of capacity).

After the inspection, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Trong Hai requested the district to continue to closely monitor the development of floods and rains to have timely response measures; have a plan to operate and regulate floods at the Ngan Truoi Irrigation Reservoir to reduce floods in the downstream area.

Units focus human resources, make efforts, and urgently carry out work to overcome the railway landslide in Duc Lien commune. Localities and related units, especially armed forces units, are ready with resources and human resources to support people when necessary.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested departments, branches and localities to continue monitoring weather developments to promptly direct and implement response measures.
