Many creative ways to respond to the Writing Contest on protecting the Party's ideological foundation

Participating for the third time in the "Political Contest on Protecting the Party's Ideological Foundation in 2023", many localities in Ha Tinh have had creative and effective ways of doing things, attracting a large number of cadres, party members, and people to participate.

The third political writing contest on protecting the Party's ideological foundation, fighting and refuting erroneous and hostile views in 2023 (referred to as the Contest) was launched by the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics in coordination with the Central Propaganda Department, the Central Council of Theory, Communist Magazine, Nhan Dan Newspaper, Vietnam Television and the Vietnam Journalists Association from January 2023.

The contest has been deployed and widely spread among cadres, party members and people of Ha Tinh, attracting many ages and participants, from high school students to elderly members, cadres, civil servants, professional and non-professional journalists...

After 6 months of implementation, the whole province had 7,675 works participating in the contest (an increase of more than 6,000 works compared to 2022), of which: 5,492 works were in the magazine category, 1,655 works were in the print newspaper category, and 528 works were in the electronic newspaper category.

After a rigorous selection and evaluation process, the province selected 67 works that met the requirements of format, content, and quality to send to the Central-level competition organizing committee.

Provincial Party Committee Propaganda Department staff reviewed the list of works before submitting them to the Central competition.

To achieve that result, immediately after the Central Party Committee's launching ceremony, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department - the contest's standing agency promptly issued documents directing and urging localities and units to propagate and disseminate in many diverse and rich forms in the press, social networks, and party cell meetings... to encourage cadres, party members and people to actively respond and participate. At the same time, it guided and suggested specific content and topic orientations for cadres, party members and people to refer to and choose appropriate content.

In particular, to encourage and motivate a large number of contestants, localities such as Huong Khe, Huong Son, Cam Xuyen, and Hong Linh Town organized marking and rewarding of outstanding collectives and individuals in responding to and participating in the district-level contest.

Head of the Propaganda Department of Huong Khe District Party Committee Hoang Quoc Nha said: “This is the first year Huong Khe has organized the judging and awarding of prizes for the district-level competition. From more than 3,000 entries submitted by 39/39 grassroots party organizations, the Organizing Committee of the district-level competition selected 247 entries for judging. From there, the Jury judged 52 entries for the final round and selected 22 quality entries for awards, of which 20 were sent to the provincial competition. Many entries were carefully invested, demonstrating the responsibility of each party member, union member, and association member in protecting the Party's ideological foundation. Some entries were written by high school students and seniors, which shows the appeal of the competition.”

Huong Khe District Party Committee held a conference to summarize and award prizes to the authors who won the district-level contest.

Not only organizing the judging round at the district level, Huong Son also thoroughly grasped and requested the grassroots Party organizations in the area, of which 100% of the reporters had quality entries. Previously, the district invited the leaders of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department to guide a number of issues related to the method and content of writing entries for the Party Secretary, Deputy Secretary, and Party Cell directly under the District Party Committee; proactively coordinated to provide information, collect winning entries from previous contests for cadres and Party members to refer to. Thanks to that, from thousands of articles at the grassroots level, 802 articles were selected by localities and units to send to the District Party Committee's Propaganda Department; the whole district assessed and selected 20 entries for the provincial contest; commended and commended at the district level 3 authors who are senior Party members with quality entries. For units that have implemented methodically and with quality, they will be awarded emulation points in the year-end classification.

At the age of 90, Mr. Thai Van Ly (61 years of Party membership, in Son Bang commune, Huong Son district) is still diligently researching documents for the exam.

Mr. Ly shared: “I am a retired teacher, always following the information on newspapers and radio about the political and social situation in our country. When I learned about the contest, I focused on researching and writing my entry with the theme “The Party’s ideology to protect the foundation of the Vietnamese revolution”. My entry was handwritten on 10 pages, then asked my children to type it and send it to the contest. I think, if everyone has the awareness and responsibility to think about the Party, it is enough to contribute to protecting the Party’s ideological foundation”.

Together with localities, the Propaganda Department of districts, cities, town Party Committees, affiliated Party Committees, Tran Phu Political School, units: Ha Tinh Newspaper, Provincial Radio and Television Station, Provincial Youth Union have established their own preliminary judging councils to select quality works to send to the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department.

Many articles are carefully invested and of high quality.

The contest is truly a political activity within the Party Committee and the People of localities and units, thereby continuing to affirm the important position and role in social life of the work of protecting the Party's ideological foundation, fighting and refuting wrong and hostile views. However, in addition to the results, it is also necessary to frankly acknowledge that some local Party Committees have not been resolute in implementing the contest; some authors submitted works in violation of the rules; the number of works is large but the quality is not really commensurate; some works copied information from the internet quite a lot...
