To meet business culture standards, Vietnamese businesses must meet the criteria of "national identity" and must not "make false advertisements" or "destroy the environment."
These are the new features of the revised Vietnam Business Culture Criteria 2025, announced to the press by Mr. Ho Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Vietnam Business Culture Development Association, former Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, on September 12.
Accordingly, Draft 2025 sets aside a group of criteria for "Business culture with national identity" and a group for "Diffusion and adaptation of business culture." This shows that the Association's strategic vision does not only stop at improving domestic enterprises but also aims to promote the image of modern, unique and integrated Vietnamese enterprises.
“Incorporating Vietnamese cultural values such as 'Honesty, loyalty, thrift, integrity, impartiality' as core criteria, while incorporating international standards such as ISO 26000, ESG, and DEI, is a 'soft power' strategy to enhance the reputation of the national brand in the international arena,” said Mr. Ho Anh Tuan.

The criteria set has 2 parts: Mandatory criteria (prerequisites) and Specific criteria (with evaluation hierarchy).
This year, the Criteria added the elements of "commercial fraud, false advertising" and "environmental destruction" to the original banned list, showing that the Criteria is reflecting modern business practices and emerging ethical issues.
In addition, the inclusion of “false advertising” in the Criteria demonstrates the recognition of the importance of transparency and consumer protection. Similarly, “environmental damage” is elevated to a prerequisite rather than just a routine assessment criterion, underlining the seriousness with which this issue is taken.
Being honored in the list of Enterprises meeting Vietnamese business culture standards is not only a source of pride but also a recognition by the Government , ministries, departments, branches, business community and society for the positive cultural values that the enterprise has worked hard to cultivate.
“This title contributes to enhancing prestige and brand, attracting high-quality human resources and opening up many opportunities for cooperation, investment and sustainable development in the context of deep international integration,” said Mr. Ho Anh Tuan.

The list of enterprises meeting the Vietnamese business culture standards (revised) and the Vietnamese business culture criteria set 2025 (revised) will be announced at the annual National Forum on culture with enterprises 2025, scheduled to take place in December.
This activity contributes to realizing the Party and State's guidelines, policies and strategies on building Vietnamese culture and people, exploiting cultural potentials, strengths and resources to meet the requirements of sustainable national development.
According to Mr. Ho Anh Tuan, the title of enterprise meeting Vietnamese business culture standards is a noble title recognized and awarded by the Vietnam Association for Development of Business Culture. At the same time, it is reserved for enterprises that fully meet the criteria in the set of criteria for Vietnamese business culture approved and issued by the President of the Association under the direction of the Prime Minister./ .
The Vietnamese Business Culture Criteria set originates from important directives of the Prime Minister, including Decision No. 1846/QD-TTg on Vietnamese Business Culture Day and Official Dispatch No. 1925/VPCP-KGVX on assigning the task of issuing the Criteria set.
On that basis, the Vietnam Association for Corporate Culture Development issued the 2024 (revised) Criteria Set to be applied from 2024. Following that orientation, a new draft for 2025 has been developed to standardize and update the criteria set to suit international integration requirements.
In terms of content, the criteria system is restructured into 5 groups, each group has 5 criteria (total of 25 criteria), compared to 33 criteria of the 2024 version. A notable change is the addition of new criteria groups focusing on National Identity, Global Values (such as ISO 26000, ESG, DEI), and Cultural Diffusion.
