TPO - The project to build an exhibition center with a total capital of more than 800 billion VND in Thu Thiem urban area (Thu Duc city, Ho Chi Minh City) has just been restarted, with the expected completion date at the end of 2025.

The Ho Chi Minh City Planning Exhibition Center project is 18,000 square meters wide, located between the Saigon River road and the Ring Road.

Construction began in 2013, the building's main function is to display and exhibit the city's architectural planning and is an event venue, a meeting place for professionals, residents and tourists.

According to the design, the building has a scale of 5 floors, with an investment capital of more than 800 billion VND. After more than 10 years, to date, this project is still just a gray, motionless block of concrete.

After a long period of stagnation, the contract for covering the exterior of the Ho Chi Minh City Exhibition Center building has resumed construction and is expected to be completed next year.

The winning bidder is 202 Group Joint Stock Company. The bid package is worth more than 110 billion VND and the implementation period is 175 days.

The Ho Chi Minh City Planning Exhibition Center has an architecture of 2 blocks placed at an angle towards each other and 1 steel block forming an inverted triangle.

After completing the exterior decorative glass installation package, the contractor will continue to install equipment and complete the interior items.

The project had completed the rough construction many years ago, then stalled due to problems in package 6. The main reason was that the old contractor submitted samples of materials used for the project that did not meet the requirements; the technical specifications of the material manufacturer also did not clarify the suitability with the project design.

Previously, the project was directed by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to transfer the investor from the City Planning Exhibition Center (under the Department of Planning and Architecture) to the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Civil and Industrial Works.

When the project is completed, it will help the East bank of the Saigon River become more vibrant. Along with the proposals of Thu Duc City to exploit the East bank, Ho Chi Minh City will have more entertainment venues to meet the increasingly diverse needs of the people.
