Teacher and student, we met again at a class reunion - Photo: LTT
Summer is the time when many groups organize meetings to "review the past and learn from the present", but as Tuoi Tre Online reported, from here there have been opinions, some people have asked the question "What is the purpose of class reunions? Should we wait until we are successful to have class reunions, or should we have class reunions every year?".
According to reader Nguyen Hoang Lan, the purpose of class reunions is up to each person. If they find it necessary, they should participate, otherwise, they shouldn't.
"Returning to a class reunion is like returning to school days, everyone relives their innocent and happy school days," reader Hoa Ngoc Lan added.
To add another perspective, Tuoi Tre Online introduces the sharing of reader Le Tan Thoi ( An Giang ) surrounding this controversial opinion.
Student support fund born from class reunion
For me, the stories about teachers and friends that remain are the meaningful stories of former students, through class reunions.
I still remember one time a friend in the group told a story about the examples of students overcoming difficulties to study well at the school he used to attend, making everyone in the group moved, some couldn't hold back their tears.
They are orphans who have to fend for themselves in the hustle and bustle of life; they are poor students who, because of their poor family background, have to rush into life to earn a living...
Their childhood does not have pretty toys, cute dolls, sweet cakes... but is a series of hard days struggling to make a living but always striving to do their best in studying.
Hearing those true stories, one of the group members suggested: "Let's join hands to help these children!"
So that idea was agreed upon by all!
Without anyone telling them, the whole group voluntarily donated to form the Fund to support poor students overcoming difficulties until today .
Connect and spread
When the Fund to Support Poor Students Overcoming Difficulties was established, everything seemed to stop there. Unexpectedly, after the class reunion, through social networks, friends who were far away and could not attend also enthusiastically supported the call of the group of former students.
Thanks to that, we had a small fund to give gifts to students at the beginning of the new school year - health insurance cards, uniforms, textbooks...
Each person has a job, we contact the school to get a list of students who will receive support. The criteria of the group is: Support must be real and appropriate to the situation.
With the help of the school, especially the homeroom teachers who go to each house to verify each case, the support always reaches the right address and meets the set criteria.
On the day of the scholarship awarding, looking at the joyful eyes of the children when receiving the gifts, although small but full of meaning, the whole group felt warm. The influence from the online community is wonderful.
How happy it is when the class reunion is a place to connect golden hearts for charity work.
The fund to support poor students overcoming difficulties later received additional support from friends living and working abroad.
Now, every time the school year starts or Tet comes, friends prepare gifts and scholarships from fundraising funds to help students overcome difficulties.
With like-minded people and thanks to the online community, we have contributed our small part to help students in difficult circumstances so that they have more determination on their path of education.
Thank you so much for the meaningful and humane class reunions.
These class reunions have given me more positive energy in the first days of the new school year, and furthermore, more motivation to pursue my teaching career.
