Along An Duong Vuong Street in Kim Tan Ward and Coc Leu Ward (Lao Cai City, Lao Cai Province), ornamental plants and Tet flowers are sold in abundance. Many people have started to go shopping to prepare for the Lunar New Year.

Here, there are all kinds of flowers and ornamental plants to serve the shopping and spring travel needs of the people. From the bright red peach blossoms of Bac Ha, Sa Pa to the kumquats of Van Giang ( Hung Yen ), cymbidiums and many modern flowers such as orchids, lilies, roses, pomegranate branches, peach blossoms… are also sold.

Decorative pomegranate and peach branches are popular with many customers.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhu Quynh, 46 years old, has been selling Bac Ha peach blossoms here for 8 years. She said that this year, the peach blossoms are bright red, double petaled, so the flowers bloom big and are favored by many people. "Since then, many people have been shopping for Tet. This is the 4th truckload of goods that my stall has imported," Ms. Quynh shared.

A short distance away, the kumquat stall of 60-year-old Duong Quang Thanh is packed with kumquat trees. Thanh imported the kumquat trees from a garden in Van Giang (Hung Yen). The prices range from 800,000 VND to over 2 million VND per tree.

“This is the 25th year I have sold kumquats here. This year, customers bought kumquats earlier than last year,” said Mr. Thanh.

The bonsai trees are selected by customers and transported home.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Hung, 44 years old, a peach buyer, said that because this year's Tet does not have the 30th day of the lunar calendar, he and his family took advantage of the weekend to go look at and choose beautiful, suitable peach trees to buy early.

Trucks carrying ornamental plants arrive continuously to serve people's shopping needs.

Some large peach and kumquat trees with beautiful shapes and forms are sold for tens of millions of dong. “Customers can buy or rent trees depending on their needs. This morning, a customer rented a peach tree for 15 million dong,” said Hoang Cao The, 34, who sells peach and kumquat trees at the flower market.

People go to see bonsai trees during Tet.

Flower shops displaying Tet decorations have fewer customers. According to shop owners, customers usually buy flowers later, after Ong Cong Ong Tao Day.
