Recently, students of the 2022 high-quality journalism class, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-HCM) had an internship in Da Lat City within the framework of the Event Organization course.

Students experience many activities such as traveling by train at Da Lat station, visiting the Samten Hills creative ecological model, and practicing event organization through the Gala Dinner Top Sowcial program. These activities help students apply the theory they have learned into practice, familiarize themselves with the process of preparation, operation and handling situations.

As the head of the organizing committee, student Thai Nguyen Thuy Linh affirmed that real-life experience is completely different from the geometry learned in class.

Linh said that in addition to planning, preparing and operating, students also have to predict risks and respond when unexpected situations arise. A typical example is the last-minute personnel change due to additional lighting items, forcing the organizers to reassign directly on the scene.

“Situations like these train me to be calm and flexible - two indispensable skills for event organizers” - Thuy Linh shared.

Field trips are an opportunity to connect students and faculty with each other.

The female student believes that this is the first and last chance for the whole class to “run” an event together as students. The intersection between “first time” and “last time” made the internship more meaningful and emotional.

There are "words" from the actual trip

Unlike journalism students, students of the Faculty of International Relations had a journey of more than 14 days, passing through many provinces and cities across the country. The group departed from Ho Chi Minh City to the Northwest, Northeast and especially stopped in Hanoi - the place considered the "cradle" of diplomatic training of the whole country.

At each stop, students were shared by diplomatic officers and specialized lecturers about career opportunities, from working in government agencies, international organizations to multinational companies and foreign affairs departments.

Le Khanh Ngan, a third-year student majoring in international relations, shared: "The trip helped me understand that international relations is not only limited to the "embassy", but can also be expanded to many other fields. The seminars and in-depth sharing by lecturers from the Diplomatic Academy, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU Hanoi), contain a large amount of new knowledge that makes many students feel "overwhelmed" because they do not have enough foundation to fully absorb it. However, this difficulty is the motivation for students to be more aware of cultivating specialized knowledge."
